Life story

Alan Jensen was born on May 1, 1950 at Norman, Oklahoma to Russel and Eleanor Jensen. At the age of 11 he moved to Pipestone Minnesota with his parents and siblings where he attended grade and high school.

He earned his first-class radio license at the age of 15. He was a member of high school band, the debate team, the National Honor Society, Smoke Signal staff, several vocal groups, Latin club, and Declam. He served as President of the Senior Class and was active in (directing and acting) Thespians and playing leading and supporting roles in numerous plays.

He entered Augustana College in September 1968 with a debate scholarship. He became a member of the Augustana College Debate team which participated in a contest held in Colorado Springs, Colorado in January.

Alan's death occurred when the plane on which the debate team was returning to Sioux Falls S.D. crashed near Anselmo, Nebraska.
