Benjamin Kevin McWhorter
"Where you are, I have been. Where I am, you soon will be. Remember me."
Benjamin "Kevin" McWhorter passed away peacefully at his home in Warner Robins, Georgia, on the morning of July 13, 2026. He was born on October 19, 1963.
Kevin grew up in East Texas with his parents, Benjamin and Marilyn McWhorter.
Kevin was the epitome of a family man. He was a devoted son, brother, husband, father, and PopPop. He spent his life working as a roofer, providing for the family he loved so deeply.
On January 22, 1983, Kevin married the love of his life, Alisa Walker. Their marriage stood the test of time and served as a beautiful reminder that lasting love is found in choosing each other, day after day.
Kevin cherished being a father to his four children, but becoming PopPop to his grandchildren brought him immeasurable joy. He adored each one of them and treasured every opportunity to spend time together.
One of the kindest people you could ever meet, Kevin had a way of making everyone feel like family. He was always quick to lend a helping hand and was already "on his way" whenever someone needed him. He never spoke ill of anyone and believed people deserved second, third, and even fourth chances. He truly believed there was good in everyone.
Kevin loved to make people laugh. Whenever someone said, "Love you!" on the way out the door, he'd grin and reply, "I kind of like you... nah, I'm kidding. I love you." His snicker whenever he thought he was pulling someone's leg was unforgettable.
Cooking was one of Kevin's greatest love languages. He enjoyed preparing meals for his family and proudly texting pictures of his latest plates to his siblings. If anyone asked for the recipe, he'd simply say, "Oh, it's so easy." Everyone eventually discovered that it was, in fact, not that easy. For Kevin, every meal was made with patience, plenty of ingredients, and a whole lot of love.
Family gatherings always brought out "Candid Kevin." We'd laugh as he pulled out his phone to capture photo after photo, whether you were smiling at the camera or halfway through taking a bite of food. His phone regularly held more than 10,000 photos because preserving memories meant everything to him.
Kevin was a devoted Dallas Cowboys fan. Dressing up meant putting on his cowboy boots and hat, and he always looked sharp. He loved everything about old Westerns. As the saying goes, you can take the man out of Texas, but you can never take Texas out of the man.
Kevin was also the first to notice when something needed fixing. Without being asked, he'd head to the store, gather what he needed, and have it working again before the day was over. His laughter could brighten any room, his cooking brought family together, and his kindness made the world a better place.
Kevin is survived by his loving wife, Alisa McWhorter; his children, Michael McWhorter, Stephanie (Catharina) McWhorter, Jonathan McWhorter, and Heather (Justin) White; his beloved grandchildren, Justice, Izabella Aeris, Aeriana, Alice, Giovanni, and Phoebe Kate; his siblings, David McWhorter, Roy (Carol) McWhorter, Cathy (Pete) Wood, and Benita (John) Kay; as well as many cherished nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Benjamin and Marilyn McWhorter; his brothers, Randall McWhorter and Brian McWhorter.
In accordance with Kevin's wishes, he will be cremated and laid to rest in Texas. A small celebration of life will be held in Jackson, Georgia, on July 25, 2026.
Kevin will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. He leaves behind a legacy of kindness, generosity, unwavering love for his family, and a reminder to cherish every moment spent with those we hold dear.
