“An honest compliment can save a life.” — Leon Jimenez
Life story

September 7, 1990 – August 15, 2026

Leon was an amazing person whose life was defined by love, kindness, laughter, and an unwavering desire to take care of the people around him. He never judged people. He welcomed them for who they were, always willing to help, and he had a special place in his heart for anyone who needed someone in their corner. He always rooted for the underdog.

Leon had a gift for making people laugh. He loved being around people, bringing them together, and making sure everyone felt welcome. His presence could brighten a room, and his ability to bring people together was one of the many things that made him so special. He leaves behind a massive family that stretches from one end of the Valley to the other, and there was never a shortage of people who loved him and considered him family.

On March 3, 2015, Leon married his beloved wife, Marta De Leon. To Marta, Leon was her husband, best friend, protector, and safe place. He took care of her and did everything he could to make her life better. Their life together was filled with love, laughter, memories, and the little moments that became precious because they shared them. His love for Marta was evident in everything he did.

Leon was also a loving father to his son, Geavius Jimenez. Family meant everything to him, and he treasured the people he was blessed to call his own.

Leon began his career with US Airways on January 26, 2015, which happened to be Marta's birthday. When US Airways eventually became American Airlines, Leon continued doing work he truly loved. As a crew chief, he took great pride in his job and in the people he worked with. Keeping people safe was one of his highest priorities, and he carried that responsibility with genuine care. He loved his coworkers and the people he worked alongside, and his dedication to his job was a reflection of the kind of person he was, someone who looked out for others.

Leon found joy in many things. He loved to draw and paint, expressing his creativity in ways that were uniquely his. He loved music, and he loved creating videos and pictures to preserve the memories of his life with the people he loved. He understood the importance of capturing moments, and because of him, so many memories will continue to live on.

His dogs, Daisy and Rosie, were deeply loved members of his family. Leon adored them, and they brought him tremendous happiness and companionship.

A little over a year ago, Leon discovered another passion when he began riding motorcycles. Riding gave him a feeling of freedom and became something he truly enjoyed. It was another way for him to experience life, and to simply feel free.

Leon is survived by his beloved wife, Marta De Leon; his son, Geavius Jimenez; his mother, Sonia Jimenez; his father, Mauricio Maldonado; his brothers, Gino Peralta, Elijah Peralta, Mauricio Cuauhtémoc Maldonado, and Tommy Peralta; and his enormous extended family and countless friends who loved him dearly.

Leon lived his life by caring for others. He protected the people he loved, stood up for those who needed someone to believe in them, brought people together, and made people laugh. He gave so much of himself to the people around him, and his impact will continue through every person whose life he touched.

He was a husband who loved deeply, a father who cared, a son and brother who was cherished, a friend who could always make you laugh, and a man who made the people around him feel protected and loved.

Leon was one of a kind. He was deeply loved, and he will be missed beyond measure. His life may have ended, but the love, laughter, memories, and kindness he gave to this world will remain forever.

One of a Kind

When Leon first started, Roy and I invited him to come sit down with us in the break room, and we taught him how to play rummy—the way we played it at AA in N1… Leon was a quick learner, but since he was the new guy and new to the game, Roy and I had a little fun with him. We would make him think he was getting close to winning, only to eventually find a way to beat him. At first, he didn’t realize all the little tricks and tactics we were using. But that didn’t last long. Leon started figuring us out. He learned our strategies, started reading our expressions and picking up on our tells, and before long, he wasn’t just winning games—he was turning some of our own tactics against us. The student had definitely learned how to beat the teachers. Looking back now, those moments mean so much more to me than I ever realized they would at the time. It was just a few coworkers sitting around a break-room table, playing cards, talking, laughing, and giving each other a hard time. You don’t necessarily think of those moments as special while you’re living them. But sometimes those simple, everyday moments become the memories you end up holding onto the most. Leon brought a genuinely positive and friendly presence to those moments. He was fun to be around, quick to catch on, and definitely one of a kind. I’m grateful that Roy and I invited the new guy to sit down with us that day. I’m even more grateful for all the games, laughs, and memories that came afterward. Rest easy, Leon. You will be greatly missed, and I’ll always remember you sitting across that table, figuring us out one hand at a time.

Your memories will live forever 🩷

Token, my cousin. 💔 Damn, this is a tough one. Growing up, I would have never pictured living the rest of my life without seeing you again. I always knew we would grow up, become adults, get old, have our own families… but I never imagined having to accept that you won’t be at another family function. That I won’t randomly see you again. That your name will now be a memory instead of someone I can call or joke with. I always told my kids stories about us growing up. About how you were my BIGGEST bully 😂. About how I used to give you shit about that long-ass pinky nail of yours. 😂 There were so many nights I stayed in Baby Joe’s room with you, listening to you cry and talk about life. We were just kids, thinking we had it so hard, trying to figure life out before we even really knew what life was. And those summers at Tia’s… damn. So many memories. So many days of all of us hanging out, supposedly babysitting, when we were really just being kids and getting into whatever trouble we could find. If I had only known then that those moments were going to become some of the memories I would hold onto forever, I would have taken in every second a little harder. Now I look at Snapchat and realize there won’t be another post from you. No more “Rise & Grind” with that Arizona sunrise. 🌅 No more Shoe Glamz. 😂 No more random posts. No more watching you ride out on your motorcycle. 🏍️ No more seeing you at family functions. No more you. And honestly, that hurts like hell. Token, you ass… why did you have to leave us? 😭💔 You left way too soon, but you left behind a lifetime of memories, laughs, stories, and pieces of you that will live on through all of us. I hope wherever you are, you’re riding free, looking down on us, probably still bullying me somehow. 😂🏍️ I’ll miss you more than words can explain. Until we meet again, cousin. Ride free, Token. 🏍️💔 Forever loved. Forever missed. Forever our King. 👑

To our Token

I’m lost for words , hard to speak on emotions that I can’t word out , hard to settle the fact that you are not here , I looked at you like my older brother , thank you for filling the shoes perfectly . 🤍 Gino and Elijah and my brothers looked up to you in one way or another, I’ll forever remember your smile , your laugh , your love, jokes , conversations, creativity and your strength in how you moved through life 🤍 you were always the person that just loved quality time rather it’s being with family and friends , You made such an impact not only for us but for others too. It was always a fun moment with you , rather it was us dancing , drinking, singing , eating or taking pictures and videos , or watching any movie from scary movies to funny ones , we would always quote movies like no other , you were the cousin that taught us everything from sports to drawing , being competitive, you taught us to be tough as well. Your our big brother and I’m happy that you knew that cause that’s something we always talked about and we’ve always agreed how much we love each other , so honored to be called your lil sister , thank you Token for the memories, the laughs , the cries , the keepsakes. You will always be remembered as a son, brother , grandson , cousin , a husband and most of all a Father! 🤍 I love you , it’s never goodbye it’s I’ll see you later Token , Fly high cuzzo 🪽🤍 I’m going to miss you like crazy!

Rest in Peace Always My Brother

Most know that I really don't like cameras...but I saved this picture from a trip I took with Leon and Marta back in May 2020 to St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands. Beaches, beers, laughing at the karaoke by the pool, exploring, laughing, watching the sunsets...we had a great time and I wish we had done more of this together. I feel very fortunate that Leon "Token" became a part of my life and family. I will miss him dearly, and family gatherings will never be the same, but his spirit will live on and we will all share the wonderful stories when we all get together. Token, you may be gone, but you will never be forgotten. Ride fast and free in heaven and watch over all of us - my only regret is that I didn't get enough time with you and I wish I could've done more for you.

Leon & his Ninja

I met Leon about a year ago at one of the meets. I complimented his first bike he had which was a grey ninja 636 with the blue on it. He was very welcoming, we were able to have genuine conversations about random stuff. He would always make sure I’m okay and I would do the same. I always told him I’m always around to listen, that’s what friends are for, no matter what you’re going through I’ll sit and listen to you and your story. This man always had a smile on his face even behind the mask. I wish I had a picture of us but I don’t. I’m sure going to miss him though
