Dr. Corazon Ignacio Macaspac
TO ERR IS HUMAN, TO FORGIVE, DIVINE.
Corazon Ignacio Macaspac, lovingly known as "Mama Cora", was born in Manila, Philippines, to Fortunato and Primitiva Ignacio. Life tested her strength early when she lost her mother at just one year old. She was lovingly raised by Tia Bebeng, Tia Tisyo, and motherly loved by Tia Goreng, her cousins and embraced as "Ate" by her seven stepbrothers and stepsisters.
Gifted with intelligence, determination, and grace, Cora pursued her passion for learning and teaching. she graduated cum laude and later earned her Doctorate in Philosophy, devoting her life to education and shaping countless young minds with wisdom, kindness, and integrity.
A woman of deep faith and compassion, Cora was a devout Catholic and active member of the Legion of Mary, Retired Secular Definitive member Order of the Secular Discalced Carmelite (OCDS) and the Catholic Women's League. She lived her faith through prayer and service especially her daily devotion to the Holy Rosary embodying humility, leadership, and selfless love always seeking to uplift others especially the less fortunate, homeless, poorest of the poor and unheard.
Her legacy lives on through her loving husband, Arsenio, and their six children Joseph, Me-an, Maricor, Badette, Archie and Des along with her beloved in laws Jing, Edgar, Julie and Roro. She is lovingly remembered by her grandchildren Patrick, Jade, Ara, Joshua, Mika, Julia and Miko, and her great-grandchildren Denise, Elyse, and Hana.
Cora passed away peacefully on November 6, 2025 at Brightwater The Oaks Aged Care Home in Waikiki, while Father Thi (priest) administered the Anointing of the Sick, a rare and scared moment that coincide with the Church's final prayers of healing and absolution. Father Thi described it as a holy death, a grace-filled passing in which her soul was believed to be fully reconciled with God, a beautifully sacred event, a sign of her deep faith and God's gentle mercy and a peaceful handover from earthly suffering to eternal rest.
Her journey was marked by unwavering devotion, kindness and strength. Even in her final days, she remained a source of light and inspiration to those around her, stedfast in faith and filled with grace. Mama Cora will be forever remembered for her compassion, humility and the unconditional love she shared with everyone who had the privilege to know her.
She was cremated after a Funeral Mass at 1:30 p.m. on November 17, 2025 at Vincent's Catholic Church in Perth, Australia. A second Funeral Mass was held on November 21, 2025 at 10:30 am, after which her ashes was laid to rest at Rookwood Catholic Cemetery in Sydney, Australia, to reunite her spirit with loved ones in eternal peace. May her soul find eternal rest in the loving arms of our Creator.
