If you’re reading this, you’ve found your way to Madison.
My name is Lejla, and I have the privilege of being Madison’s older sister. I wanted this page to be more than a name and two dates carved into stone. I wanted there to be a place where people could learn a little about the person behind that name—the daughter, sister, aunt, friend, and beautiful young woman who was loved beyond measure.
Madison was only 20 years old, with so much life still ahead of her. She was funny, loving, artistic, and deeply connected to the people she loved. She had a soft spot for animals and a desire to care for others. She had earned her medication technician license and had plans of continuing her education to become a nurse. She was still figuring out exactly who she wanted to become, as every 20-year-old should have the chance to do.
To me, though, she will always simply be my little sister.
She was someone I grew up with, laughed with, argued with, protected, worried about, and loved in the way only sisters understand. She could make me laugh until I cried, and she especially loved teaming up with others to make fun of something ridiculous I had said or done. Some of the smallest memories are now the ones I treasure most.
She adored her family. She was a daughter, a sister to all of us, and an aunt to my daughter, Alina, who was her first niece. She showed up—for school lunches, events, babysitting, rides, silly games, TikTok videos, and ordinary days that none of us realized would someday become extraordinary memories.
Madison’s life ended far too soon on May 23, 2026. There will never be words that can adequately explain the space her absence has left behind. Twenty years was nowhere near enough.
But I refuse to let the way Madison died become the most important thing about the way she lived.
She was here.
She laughed. She loved. She dreamed. She made plans. She annoyed her siblings. She loved her family. She created memories without realizing how precious they would someday become. She mattered then, and she matters now.
So if you scanned this while standing beside her, thank you for taking a moment to know her.
Say her name.
Madison.
And know that behind the name carved into this stone is an entire lifetime of love—and a big sister who will spend the rest of hers making sure she is never forgotten.
