Life story
Barbara Jo Pentz McConaghy was born on January 17, 1951 to Robert and Dorothy Pentz in Warren, Michigan. After graduating from Rubidoux High School in 1969, she pursued a college degree and teaching certificate at Bethany Bible College and Point Loma Nazarene University.
Barbara spent over 30 years working as a christian school teacher for elementary school students in Southern California. She was very passionate about the success of her students and truly loved her work.
Barbara met her husband Dennis in Vista, California in 1980. They were then blessed with two children, Michael and Erin McConaghy. Barbara was also a beloved step-mother and grandmother to Richard McConaghy, Meghan McConaghy, and their children.
After retiring, Barbara focused on spending time with those she loved. Her children and family were one of her life’s greatest joys. She also enjoyed travel, reading, sewing, gardening, and other arts and crafts.
Barbara is predeceased by her granddaughter, Erin Nicole McConaghy. She is survived by her husband Dennis McConaghy, and her children and step-children Erin McConaghy, Michael McConaghy, Meghan McConaghy, and Rick McConaghy. She leaves behind 3 siblings and 4 grandchildren.
