Life story

Deondré Douglas Baldwin was reunited with his beloved grandfather on September 3, 2016.

Born on June 18, 1996, in Pocatello, Idaho, to Micah Palmer and Douglas Baldwin, Deondré spent his early childhood in Chubbuck before moving with his family to Salt Lake City, Utah, at the age of 11. He attended Tyhee Elementary School, Mount Jordan Middle School, Lone Peak High School, and graduated high school from Summit High School.

Deondré lived with a spirit that was larger than life. He was adventurous, courageous, fiercely loyal, and unapologetically himself. He had a magnetic personality that drew people in, and a smile and laugh that could instantly brighten a room. He was the kind of person who made every gathering more fun simply by being there.

From the age of seven, baseball became one of his greatest passions. A naturally gifted athlete, he excelled as a starting pitcher and clean-up hitter, hitting countless home runs and earning the respect of teammates and coaches alike. He also loved football and remained a devoted Denver Broncos fan throughout his life.

While Deondré loved sports and adventure, the people he loved were always at the center of his world. Family meant everything to him.

One of his most treasured roles was being a big brother. His bond with his sister Aaliyah was equally special. Like many siblings, they spent their younger years challenging one another, but as they grew older, their relationship blossomed into a deep friendship. They became best friends who leaned on each other for comfort, support, laughter, and unconditional love. Their connection was one built on trust, understanding, and countless memories that will forever be cherished.

When his youngest sister, Chevee, was born, Deondré was overjoyed. Though they were fifteen years apart in age, he immediately took her under his wing. He adored her, protected her fiercely, and became her hero. To Chevee, he wasn’t just a brother; he was the man she looked up to, trusted completely, and loved with all her heart.

At the center of Deondré’s heart was Desirea, his best friend, soulmate, and the love of his life. Their relationship was built on a deep friendship, unwavering trust, and a love that was evident to everyone who knew them. They shared countless adventures, endless laughter, and a bond that brought comfort, happiness, and strength to both of their lives. Whether they were making memories with family and friends or simply enjoying each other’s company, they were happiest together. Deondré adored Desirea wholeheartedly, and the love they shared was the kind many people spend a lifetime searching for; genuine, enduring, and beautiful in its simplicity.

Deondré loved life outdoors. Whether he was boating, wakeboarding, camping, hiking, or simply spending time with the people he cared about most, he embraced every opportunity to create memories.

Anyone who knew Deondré knew he had a stubborn streak. Once he had made up his mind, changing it was nearly impossible. In fact, one particularly memorable “stubborn incident” became a source of endless family teasing, and he took his fair share of jokes because of it. Looking back, those moments have become some of the stories that make everyone smile. His stubbornness was simply part of what made him uniquely Deondré.

He was also a natural comedian. He loved making people laugh through jokes, playful pranks, and quick-witted humor. Often, nobody laughed harder at his jokes than Deondré himself. His laughter was contagious, genuine, and unforgettable. It was impossible not to smile when he was smiling.

A true car enthusiast, Deondré loved working on vehicles and was happiest when he had the chance to learn something new under the hood. At the time of his passing, he was working as a Lube Technician at Grease Monkey in Lehi, Utah, where he was known not only for his work ethic but also for the joy, laughter, and friendship he brought to those around him.

Though his time on earth was far too short, Deondré left behind a lifetime of memories. He will always be remembered for his adventurous spirit, his unwavering loyalty, his protective nature, his generous heart, his infectious laughter, and the immense love he had for his family and friends. Those who were fortunate enough to know him carry a piece of him with them still—in every laugh shared, every story retold, and every memory cherished.

To know Deondré was to love him, and there will never be a day that we do not miss his laughter, his smile, and the love he gave so freely.

His absence is felt every day, but so is his love. His legacy lives on in the hearts of all who knew him, especially those who were blessed to call him a son, brother, grandson, partner, family member, and friend.
