Spencer Pote Obituary
Spencer Alan Pote was born on October 4, 1992, in Corning, Iowa and passed away on July 29, 2022. Visitation will be Tuesday August 2, from 3 PM until 7 PM at the Ballard High School. Funeral Services will be Wednesday, August 3 at 10 AM at the Palestine Lutheran Church in Huxley. Burial will be in the Prairie Rose Cemetery in Corning, Iowa at approximately 3:00 pm on Wednesday, August 3.
Spencer grew up in Corning until age 5 and then moved with his family to Huxley, Iowa. He attended and graduated from Ballard High School with the class of 2011.
Spencer had a passion for his family and friends. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, firearms, UTV’s, snowmobiling, riding Harley’s and driving semis. He went to work with good friend, Colin Heitshusen and hauled livestock all over the United States meeting many different people along the way and making more friends. Earlier this year, he recently started working for Tyler Barrick at Barrick Transportation making runs mainly in the Midwest, so he could be home on the weekends to spend more time with family and friends.
Spencer didn’t know a stranger his whole life. If it was the first time he met someone, and it only took a couple of minutes, it seemed they’d known each other their whole lives.
Spencer worked hard and played harder every day. He would drop what he was doing at the drop of a hat if a friend called and said they needed something.
Spencer is preceded in death by his great-grandparents and his grandmother, Virginia Westlake. He is survived by his father, Mark (Jen) Pote of Cambridge; mother, Laura Westlake Pote (Phil Swartz) of West Des Moines; sisters, Kasie Pote of Phoenix, AZ and Kayla Kronfeld of Fridley, MN; grandparents Larry (Mary) Pote of Coon Rapids, Dianne (Dave) Ellis of Prole and Dick Westlake of Brooks, Iowa; many aunts, uncles and cousins that will miss him dearly and special friend, NaTasha Berns of St. Olaf, Iowa.
