Lindsey Sharrell Lovitt - LINDSEYS BIRTH STORY
My name is Sandi Sharrell Smith Lovitt.
I was born on October 29, 1974 by Clark and Carolyn Smith,
I went to Hancock High School from 1989-1993
On February 19, 1994, I met my "now husband" on a blind date set up by my older cousin.
We dated for 3 years and 8 months before we Married.
We got married on October 11, 1997 in Long Beach, MS at St. Matthews Catholic Church, with a honeymoon to Tn.
Between 1998-1999 We unfortunately had 4 miscarriages between 6wks-12wks.
In march 2000 we found out we were PREGNANT! We were so excited but scared we might loose this one too.
Went to the Dr. to find out our due date was 1-1-01. We were so excited and couldn't wait to tell everyone the great news.
I worked at DR. Spraberries Dental Office from 1994- 1999, then I left there and worked at The Grand Casino in Gulfport from 1999-2000.
December 12, 2000 AM, my water broke while I was in the shower so I had no Idea I was in labor. Getting to the hospital around 5:30pm they got me in the bed and all hooked up and ready to have this baby. Our families were all out in the lobby waiting on the news, so as they waited they all start guessing on what time the baby would be born,( I had NO IDEA they were doing that.)
some said 12:30am, 1:25am, then my dad said 4:00am.
I am in hard labor, December 13, 2000, I don't seem to be making much progress as they would like me too, heck, I agree cause it's going on 20 hours already and although I didn't want medication, I had no choice, at 9cm medication I was given potosin to help speed up the process but I had to have extra help so they ended up having to use forceps to get the baby out. Finally , December 14,2000 at 4:00AM, My beautiful baby was born and perfect, the Dr. said IT'S A GIRL!! I knew it already she was born, with a headful of black hair and lots of it. Eddie was the first one to hold her after he cut the umbulical cord, I could see the LOVE, JOY and HAPPINESS just beaming from his face as he turns towards me with her. He puts her in my arms and I was so happy and so in love with this tiny little girl God sent us to have.
Eddie was able to tell everyone that we had a Baby Girl, they were so excited to see her, Once they were able to get in the room with us the asked me what time she was born and when I said 4 O'clock AM, you would have thought someone had just hit the jackpot, they started screaming and yelling until I said SShhh., then I heard someone say DAD, you got it right
4 O'clock on the dot, you should have seen his face, he was so proud and excited. This was my deddys first BIO. Granddaughter.
I thought we were going home the next day, but I had a little medical complication that kept us from going home for 2 days.It wasn't fun or pretty. But finially we were told we could go home, after the nurse came in the room, she checked me then checked Lindsey out, she helped me get her stuff together as I dressed up sweet baby girl up to be ready to go home.
It was cold out and rainey, so Eddie goes and gets the car, lol I thought he said one exit but he went to another, once we realized the nurse pushing us in the wheel chair left there and went to the other door, but Eddie decided to go to the door we were just at and we were where he just was. FINIALLY, the nurse says stay there we coming back. We get back to meet us and it's so cold outside but I had her so bundled up like a little bug in a rug, she not getting cold under my care.
HOMEBOUND was so exciting, all our families were there at our home waiting on us. Once we were finally home and going inside felt weird but exciting too, I took her and showed her, her room and the rest of the house, not that he had any idea what was happening.
Few weeks later Lindsey developed jaundice so while home she had to stay in an incubanker and turned over every two hours for the first two weeks. She did great and no more tanning bed for her.
When Lindsey was 6 months old, it was just another typical day, she was sitting on a blanket on the floor playing with her toys while I was cleaning the house before I put her to bed for the night.
I was still nursing her and it was getting bedtime so we sat in our chair and read a book while she nursed before bed. Once S]she was done and asleep, I burped her and laid her on her back, kissed her goodnight and walked out of the room.
I went back to the living room and sat on the couch for just a minute before I started picking up toys, then, I had this weird feeling about something so, I went back into Lindsey's room to check on her to find her grayish blue, I grabbed her out of bed turned her over and laid her on my left arm and with my right hand I started hitting her on her back, I was scared I was going to hurt her but I had to get her to breath, she let out the loudest cry I'VE EVER HEARD HER CRY BUT THAT WAS THAT, She was breathing but very little, she was still pail gray, I called my mom and told her what was going on and she said to call Eddies mom, i called her and she said to call 911 then to call Eddie, so I called 911 and then EDDIE, he heard it over the radio but was kinda confused on what was going on until I called him. Once I told him what was going on he hung phone and he was on his way. He left coming home after the EMT and Fire Department and he BEAT EVERYONE THERE. Later on he said he drove over 100MPH getting to her. Once everyone got there she was pale but not gray anymore, the took us Lindsey on my lap tied down on a stretcher in the Ambulance to Memorial. We stayed there almost 2 weeks trying to figure out what was wrong with her, she ran fever and had low oxygen for awhile.
