Garrick Hall was a farm boy- a past Skyview FFA Chapter member- a mentor and my friend. We are here to honor him tonight and recognize his contributions to Utah FFA. His recent passing has left a void in our agriculture community. Through his leadership, his legacy will live on. He recently toured our Jr. High FFA members at the Utah State Capitol and a student expressed how "He showed so much leadership and is truly an amazing guy! Her favorite part was when he was telling us about his childhood, where he grew up and how he ended up in Juab. It was so cool seeing how much knowledge he had about every aspect of life, he was very smart. Garrick believed "it is possible for all of us to be leaders in our own environment. We all have opportunities to be leaders whether in a small group of neighbors, a local PTA, or a city council. Being a leader may simply mean standing up and speaking out. Everyone's opportunities and abilities are different, but everyone can make a difference. Garrick was an advocate for Utah Agriculture. He gave his all for the industry and those families working in it. He supported ag programs and the FFA- He coached his sons parliamentary procedure team who will be competing at this convention, toured kids at the State Capitol, and for many years- oversaw the Utah FFA discussion meet. He led by example-through small and meaningful gestures every single day. Never expecting more in return, his service was always through kindness. That day at the Capitol, he told our group "It was a good day to be with the FFA?" As a token of our remembrance and to strive to be more like him, we are excited to extend a service offered by his family to Utah legislators after his passing by providing flag pins to every member and guest in attendance of tonight's general session. Please respectfully accept and wear this flag pin in his memory.
