Josie Fay Fair
Josie Fay (Wilson) Fair, 93, peacefully transitioned into eternal rest on April 3, 2024. She was born on July 18, 1930, in Greenville, NC and was the oldest daughter of the late Robert Wilson and Emily G. Wilson.
Josie was preceded in death by her loving husband, Henry Hayes Fair Sr. Also preceding her in death are her siblings Barbara Ann Everette, Mattie Ann Cox, Hildred Wilson, Elbert Wilson Sr., Robert Wilson Jr., Carl Wilson, Frank Wilson, and Manson Wilson.
Lovingly remembered as “Jo Fay” by family and friends, Josie was a caring, nurturing woman devoted to the Lord. On March 2, 1958, she married her husband Henry H. Fair Sr. in Greenville, North Carolina. From there, the couple traveled extensively with their children during Henry’s career with the United States Air Force. Josie retired from Langley Air Force Base Exchange where she served as a supervisor in the garden department which cultivated her love of holiday tree decorating and gardening.
Josie was a long time member of Little Zion Baptist Church, where she shared her love of singing through her membership in the Senior Choir and Senior Citizen ministry, where she enjoyed crafts and fellowship.
She leaves to cherish memory her loving children; Linda Wilson Barrett (James) of Greenville, NC, Sheila Fair Bailey of Newport News, VA, Shirley Williams (Elijah), of Hartsville, SC, and Henry Hayes Fair Jr. (Andrea) of Fredericksburg, VA. She also leaves to keep her legacy alive, 10 adoring grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends who will remember her continually.
