In loving memory of Richard “Rich” Harris, a remarkable man who touched the lives of so many. Richard was not only a loving husband to Denise Harris, but, also a devoted father to his children Joanne, Debbie, and Mark. His love extended beyond his immediate family, as he adored his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, bringing happiness to their lives with his playful spirit.
Richard had a passion for many things in life. Baseball was not just a game to him; it was a source of joy and excitement. He also had a green thumb, and spent hours tending to his garden. Richard enjoyed trying his luck on the slots at the Casino and driving to Tim Hortons for hot coffee to rinse down all the sweet treats he would devour at home, including watermelon and apples with salt. Bird watching was another one of his favorite pastimes, as he marveled at the beauty and grace of all winged creatures.
His love for animals knew no bounds. Whether it was a loyal family pet or a wild creature in need, he would go above and beyond to care for them. Richard's gestures spoke volumes about his love and compassion, as he rarely spoke about his feelings, but, always showed his affection through his actions.
But, let's not forget his mischievous side! Richard had a knack for pulling pranks that would leave everyone in stitches. From stuffing Kleenex in the tips of your shoes, to carrying around a little doll hand, where he couldn’t resist his classic line, 'Do you need a hand?' accompanied by a mischievous smile.
Among his favorite indulgences was Apricot Brandy, which he enjoyed sipping on special occasions. It was a symbol of celebration and togetherness, reminding us to cherish the moments we share with loved ones.
Richard's memory will forever be etched in our hearts. His love, laughter, and warm presence is deeply missed. Through the tough times and even through the good times without him, let us remember the joy he brought to us all. May his spirit live on in our cherished memories and may we strive to carry forward his legacy of love and laughter. Richard wouldn’t want any of us to cry over his passing for long, because if he saw us crying, he would grab us all by the tops of our heads and say “Heal This Brain!”. We love and miss you everyday Richard, Rich, Dad, Papa.
I was driving my friend home, and all of a sudden I heard someone tell me to come visit you at your plot today. It’s the first time I’ve come here by myself. I never wanted to come by myself and truly feel the feelings of losing you all over again. But, something or someone kept telling me to come here. I hope you can see how my life is and that you have a hand in my healing journey. Not a day goes by I don’t think of you. Seems that now you’re gone I could use your “heal this brain” more than ever, I just hope over the hundreds of times you’ve done it to me, that it was all for this exact moment in my life. I love you and I miss you, thanks for chatting today.
There is not enough "Heal This Brain" in the world to heal from the loss of someone like you. I will cherish the memories and all the laughter we have had together. You taught me soo much in my life, including our love for Tim Hortons. I love you soo much Papa, and I know you loved me too! Mostly because I'd force you to tell me you loved me back every time I left your home!!!
