"The indelible fire, You can still burn, And in your light, I hope we learn" - BEN BROWN
It is not possible to adequately convey Ben’s character in words that do justice to him. In his short life, he achieved things that many people would aspire to in their whole life. He came of age at The Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts, where he was awarded a first-class honors degree in Music and created The Balloons Project. This project, designed to inspire confidence in children across Liverpool through engagement with the arts, garnered widespread critical acclaim. In recognition for his achievements, Ben won the Sir Paul McCartney Human Spirit Award, the Queen Diamond’s Jubilee Award and in 2012 he was selected as an Olympic torchbearer.
Even during challenging times, Ben never lost his dry sense of humor, love for dogs, nature and the stars. He loved spaghetti bolognaise, Negronis with his aunty Pam, whole packs of digestive biscuits, the 90s pop artist Des’ree, extremely competitive bingo and Eurovision. He had time for anyone, often putting other people’s needs before his own, and from an early age was known for sticking up for the underdog. He was someone you could be silly with, ask for support when you needed it or get excited and passionate about a new idea with.
