Life story

Ryan “Rhino” Ricketts

September 27, 1977 – November 30, 2022

Ryan Ricketts, lovingly known as Rhino, was a devoted husband, father, son, brother, and friend who touched countless lives with his love, laughter, and unwavering faith. He was the cherished husband of Alicia and the proud father of Austin, Hannah, and Colton. Family was at the center of his heart, and he never missed an opportunity to make memories with those he loved.

Ryan’s adventurous spirit and love for the outdoors led him on many journeys—whether fishing, camping, hunting, mushroom hunting, hiking, or taking road trips with his family. One of his greatest passions was exploring caves, and in true Ryan fashion, the day before he and Alicia were married, they hiked an unmarked cave with a hidden waterfall. He was a collector at heart, fascinated by antiques, especially marbles and Native American artifacts, always finding joy in uncovering pieces of history. Ryan was also very creative, he could build anything and found joy in drawing.

Professionally, Ryan worked many jobs, but his true calling was as a land surveyor, where he could be outside, discovering new places. At home, he was known for his sense of humor, always cracking dad jokes and making people laugh. He was also an amazing cook, especially when it came to BBQ—his secret sauce was Alicia’s favorite, and his grill was the centerpiece of many gatherings.

Above all, Ryan’s greatest love was for the Lord. Though life brought its trials, including his battle with ITP, he never wavered in his faith. Having been freed from the chains of addiction, he made it his mission to share his testimony, always pointing others to the hope and healing found in Jesus Christ. His favorite verse, Philippians 4:4—*“Rejoice in the Lord alway; and again I say, rejoice”—*was the foundation of his life.

On November 30, 2022, Ryan received the ultimate healing, entering into the presence of his Savior. Though he is deeply missed, his legacy of faith, love, and adventure lives on in the hearts of all who knew him.
