Let’s fucking go…we have worked to do!
Tanner lived in Alvinston and loved his community! Tanner grew up with his sister Sydney and his parents Jenny and Shawn. Tanner loved his dog Abby and would often dance with her in the kitchen. He played hockey and softball growing up and continued once he became an adult. He loved his rounded toe cowboy boots and a warm Busch Light. Tanner loved his family and friends and would light up a room when he entered with his smile it was infectious. He loved to fish and hunt with his friends, but I am sure his friends would tell you he was not the best hunter as a requirement would be to be silent and wait, that was never one of Tanner’s strong points being quiet or patient, always talking. From a very young age Tanner wanted to be a firefighter and went to Lambton College to become one. His dream became reality when he accepted a job with the Six Nations Fire Department. The training was intense as he would call home to say how hard it was. He was so excited to complete his probationary training. Tanner had one week left in his training when the chief gave them a long weekend off for all their hard work. Tanner was on his way home after visiting Petrolia fire station when he was tragically killed in a motor vehicle accident. Tanner’s truck collided with a combine and was killed instantly. He was 20 years old and was 5 minutes from home. Taken too soon from all that loved him. Tanner had over 200 firefighters come to his funeral and over 500 people who filled the community centre to say there goodbye's. His family and friends keep his memory alive and continue to honour Tanner. The Tanner Memorial Two Pitch Tournament was started in 2021. All proceeds from the tournament go to Organizations in Tanner’s community that he loved to be a part of. Tanner is so deeply missed by all who knew him. It’s hard to forget someone who gave us so much to remember.
