Life story

Lucas “Luke” Garrett Whitt was born on March 26, 2004 in Troy, Ohio to William Whitt and Heidi Burroughs. The youngest of their children.

As a young child, Luke was a typical boy. He was often found outside, covered in dirt, no shirt, no shoes, and full of adventure. You could not take your eyes off of him, never knowing what he was going to do next. When asked why he did some of the things he did, he would simply reply, “because the chicks dig it” with a shrug.

As a student at Graham, Luke was known as the class clown. He would stop short of nothing to make others laugh. Because of this, he knew no strangers. In one call home from school it was said, “he just can’t help it, he’s popular with everyone. They all love him.” He was too smart for his own good.

As an older child, he enjoyed riding four-wheelers, hunting, fishing, playing video games, and spending time with his family and friends. Up until her passing in 2015, he never left the side of his favorite person, “Nanny.” It was a bittersweet moment when we got to reunite the duo, resting side by side for eternity.

There is no perfect way to describe Lucas. He was fun, loving, hardworking, fearless. “He had a wild side but he had amazing Grace.” His heart was made of pure gold. He was happy, all of the time. With a smile that lit up his entire face and a laugh that echoed throughout the room. He was truly one of a kind. We are forever grateful for every minute we were blessed to have had him with us.

Although Luke’s life was shorter than expected, we take comfort in knowing he lived everyday to the fullest. He truly enjoyed the life he was given. We miss him more than words can express but we know he is in the arms of Jesus, waiting for us to join him.
