Henry Kingswood McMinn
Born on a leap year as a special little leapling.
Unique from the day he entered earth.
First born of Naomi and Scott
A boy that truly just loved life. A boy that lived as though he’d been here before. Wise beyond his years . A little old soul.
Henry touched the hearts of everyone . Those he met and even those he didn’t. He had the most beautiful smile and a cheeky one too. Blue eyes and blonde hair.
Henry loved all things nature. He loved being in nature and loved animals too.
He would enjoy playing and collecting things in nature the most. Shells by the ocean, feathers off the ground, gum nuts from the trees - you name it . He saw beauty and treasure in the little things.
Henry followed in his dad’s footsteps and was an incredible little motorbike rider and rode by the age of 2. He could do burnouts and donuts by the age of 3.
Henry was quite the little artist too and loved to draw. He was always so creative and in the last months of his life he allowed drawing to take him to a place of zen.
Henry was an older brother to 3 sisters Zadie, Emmy and Ochre, who he loved so much. He was the most caring big brother and always knew how to make them laugh and have fun.
In late 2022 on Nov 1st we were given the devasted news that Henry had ALL (acute lymphoblastic leukemia) . This came as a real shock to us as he hadn’t been unwell at all just had began looking pale but was still doing everything.
Henry faced this head on and was the most courageous bravest boy. He never complained whilst receiving chemotherapy treatment and always had a smile still.
After a couple months of an intense phase of chemo he was cancer free but remained having ongoing chemo treatment. It was this treatment that would take him from us.
In the most heartbreaking of ways we lost our beautiful Henry in the space of a week. A week of him becoming unwell for the first time in the whole 6 months of his treatment. Mistakes were made and this combined with chemo toxicity ,we lost our boy.
The treatment of childhood cancers shouldn’t be what contributes and takes their life.
We will forever honour Henry and make sure no other family ever faces what we have endured and will forever have to live with .. a life without Henry .
