Life story

Ryan Oliver Aguirre

Ryan Oliver Aguirre was born on October 7, 2004, at UC Davis in Sacramento, California and passed away on November 27, 2022, at the age of 18 from a fatal car accident caused by an intoxicated driver. Ryan was born to Steven Aguirre II and Kara Chapin (Aguirre). He was also loved by his stepparents, Laura (Goulding) Aguirre and Christopher Smith. He was the older brother to Kade Smith and Evelyn Aguirre. He was a beloved son, brother, grandson, nephew, cousin, and friend.

Ryan attended Kindergarten at Sunrise Elementary followed by grade school at Feickert Elementary in Elk Grove, CA. Ryan encountered tragedy at the age of 8 when he suffered from multiple massive strokes due to Bow Hunters Syndrome. His determination and love of life, and by the grace of God, he survived. His story has brought help, hope, healing, and inspiration. He was dubbed “The Miracle Boy” by his doctors. Ryan attended middle school at Pinkerton followed by Elk Grove High School where he was an active council member of the Technical Digital Arts Academy (TDA). He graduated from Elk Grove High in May of this year.

Upon graduation, Ryan was hired by Pavilion Carwash Quick Lube and Detail Center and was working towards becoming supervisor. He also had an interest in trade school for welding. Ryan loved his ’98 Honda Civic and would spend time cleaning and polishing it and enjoyed making upgrades to it like new rims and tires to truly make it his own. Ryan had spent years learning tricks on his Kendama and scooter and was most recently into skateboarding. He enjoyed playing video games, especially online with his cousin in Oklahoma, “hang” with his friends, watch the sunset, run in the ocean’s waves, vacation with his family, and eat anything and everything, especially things that were super spicy and just plain odd, just to say he ate it.

Ryan will be remembered for his quiet and gentle demeanor, his innocence, his open heart, his ability to love and his determination to never give up. His light shined to all who knew him. He had great love for his entire family and the countless number of friends in all aspects of his life. His impact on this world, even for such a short time that he was here, was more than he could ever have expected. He was loved by so many, in so many different capacities. He was truly an angel that was taken from us all, far too soon.

Ryan's life was stolen by an intoxicated driver. We implore you to never get behind the wheel after drinking or using any substance.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider making a donation to UCSF Foundation (https://giving.ucst.edu/honor-memoria)l where Ryan was diagnosed with Bow Hunters Syndrome or We Save Lives (https://wesavelives.org) to help in education and prevention of intoxicated driving.
