Joanna Tonette "Toni” Gomes, passed away at her home on Tuesday, January 18, 2022. She was born October 11, 1968 in Flagstaff, Arizona to Tommie and Wanda Pearl (Brown) Murry. She grew up in Pampa, Texas, which will always be her home town. Toni was raised by her grandmother Ada Mae Murray, who she cherished.
In 1993 she met the love of her life, Christopher Gomes, whom she married on July 14, 1998. They moved to Greeley and raised and loved their only child, Stefen.
She helped special needs students and was a substitute teacher with District 6 for many years, but her most important job was that of taking care of her family, especially her grandbabies; Holly and Stefanie. They were the light of her life. She was also blessed with a loving daughter-in-law, Hayley.
Toni graduated from UNC with a Bachelor degree and was an avid Bears fan, but her love for the Dallas Cowboys was unmatched.
Greeley has been her home for 23 years and she loved the Colorado scenery, being outdoors, and hiking whenever she could. She would aways say she felt closer to God when outdoors. She also enjoyed camping, gardening, yard work, reading, running 5K’s, attending her SPIN class and meeting people.
They are members of Westview Church of Christ where she taught Sunday School for a number of years.
Thankful to have shared her life with her husband, Chris, their son, Stefen (Hayley) Gomes, granddaughters; Holly and Stefanie Gomes, her father, Tommie (Patricia) Murry and her siblings; Lafonda Scott, Yolanda Brown, Courtney Brown, Laquita Brown, Tia Touchstone and Stacey Brown, many nieces and nephews and her beloved dog, Gizzy.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Wanda Pearl Murry and her beloved grandmother, Ada Mae Murray.
Very beautiful photo's, footage is wonderful also. When I look at this video what I envision is the loss of Holly and Stefanie's paternal grandmother not here on Earth anymore. But she will always be, with all of her family and friends in spirit. R.I.P
There's not a day that goes by that I don't think about you and miss you mom. It's been almost 2 years since you've been gone, and I still miss you more than life itself. I would do anything to have you down here with us, but I guess the lord had bigger plans for you. The girls and I love you so much, and that will never change. I'll see you again one day momma. I hope heaven is perfect ❤️
Love your son
There will never be a day that goes by that you are not missed. Best mother, nona, and mother in law you could ever ask god to bless you with. So thankful for the years of knowing you. Love you always Toni ❤️❤️
