Mitch Thieman
My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever. -Psalm 73:26
Mitchell Ambrose Thieman was born in Portland, Oregon on April 25, 1968 to Larry and Arlene Thieman. He was the youngest of 4 children.
In his early years, he loved skiing, golfing and racing karts. Racing was one of his great joys as he raced professionally in his early 20's. He shared this love with his son in his last years as he and Emerson raced karts together. Also in his early 20's, Mitch committed his life to Jesus Christ. He was profoundly changed by the idea of unconditional love and grace. He connected with God's forgiveness on a deeply personal and emotional level.
In his adult years, Mitch earned his pilot's license and flew commercially for Continental Express, Horizon (Alaska) Airlines and Saudi Aramco. Being a father was incredibly important to him and brought him deep joy. His had a natural ability for nurturing and enjoying the simple things in life which built a great foundation for Emerson and Stella's development.
Those who knew Mitch well would describe him as kind, generous, witty and curious. He was a great listener and people were drawn to him so often for that reason. Mitch also struggled with depression during his adult years. There were many prayers and hopes that God would remove this struggle for him. That prayer was not answered while Mitch was alive but we are confident that it has been answered as he basks in the Lord's presence. (Revelation 21:3-4 "..."they will be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God. He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.”)
Mitch's life on earth ended in June 2023. Mitch was preceded in death by his mother (Arlene Thieman) and brother (Perry Thieman). He leaves behind his father (Larry Thieman), sister and family (Maria Kent), wife of 23 years (Tammy Thieman), son (Emerson Thieman, 16 years old) and daughter (Stella Thieman, 14 years old).
