Life story

Kai Nickelyse Humphrey, born on October 29, 2002, in Wichita, Kansas, passed away on November 15, 2020, in the same city at the age of 18. A vibrant and multi-talented individual, Kai attended Mulvane High School, where she nurtured her diverse artistic talents.

Kai was renowned for her singing and dancing abilities, particularly tap dance. Her passion for music extended to playing several instruments, which she adeptly balanced with her interests in drawing, crafting, and photo editing. Everyone who knew Kai experienced her joy through her constant smile and the melodies she hummed, making every moment around her brighter.

Her love for animals shone through her affection for cats, and she found joy in simple pleasures like eating at Chick-Fil-A and going on vacations. She was a giver of butterfly kisses, a small gesture that marked her warm, affectionate nature.

Kai leaves behind a loving family who cherished her deeply: her mother, Kate Humphrey; grandmother, Reva; uncles and aunts, Nick & Teruyo, Stephanie & Ed, and Amanda; cousins Klaudia (her best friend), Ami, Hiro, Kai Eloise (Namesake), Jacob, Colby, and Seth. She was preceded in death by her grandfather Stanley, and great-grandparents Beryl & Margaret, and Paul & Virginia.

Kai's life, though brief, was a vivid tapestry of joy, creativity, and love. Her legacy will live on in the hearts of all who knew her, as a reminder of the beauty and melody that life can hold.
