Colorado trip and mountains make me feel closer to heaven and Nate💜
May the memory of his contagious smile continue to bring you joy.
Nathan Allen Twedt was born on August 22, 1996, and was full term, but spent his first 11 days in the St Lukes NICU. He went home from the hospital on Labor Day weekend and joined big sister, Madison (born August 19, 1993).
Nathan was an energetic and busy little boy who loved all kinds of sports even from a very early age. Soccer, golf and disc golf ended up being his favorites to participate in. Nathan went to Ascension Lutheran Church pre-school and grades AK - 12 at Linn Mar (Wilkins, Indian Creek, Excelsior). Nathan worked at the Marion Hy-Vee in high school and by the time he left for college he was working at the meat counter, which he seemed to enjoy. Makes sense as he watched a lot of cooking shows on TV and when he had to fix his own dinner (or wanted to cook for someone else), he preferred to make a steak. Nathan had a great group of friends, and those friendships were very important to him. His friends continue to be a blessing to me.
Nathan started college at University of Northern Iowa in Cedar Falls in August 2015. Maddie was beginning her first year of grad school also at UNI when Nathan was a freshman. Nathan liked UNI, worked at a local golf course in the good weather months and at Hy-Vee during the winter. Nathan also enjoyed disc golf and spent a lot of time during his last summer at home on the Legion course in Marion (you might be reading this from his bench located there). He was just beginning his sophomore year at UNI and had just turned 20 when he passed away on September 10, 2016.
Nathan's life was very short, but he lived it to the fullest. He loved to have fun, had a contagious smile, gave the best hugs, and was a good friend to many. His memory will live on in the lives of everyone who knew him. Nathan is loved and missed every day.
