Lived 27 years

Life story

When Alexis Faith Bouyea was born she made it her mission to be a helper. She devoted most of her free time to her pets and helping other pet owners with their fur babies. She had a remarkable way of understanding animal behavior. Not only was she a devoted animal lover, she was a remarkable friend. If you needed her help or just someone to listen, she would drop everything and come. Alexis loved a project, or something to get her hands dirty. In a team she was usually the leader of the pack.

She loved when everyone was together and couldn’t wait for an opportunity to see her family together and catch up on our lives away from each other. She was loud and unapologetic but in the same sentence always understanding. In the shadow of her absence in this life we remember her laughter, her drive, and her spirit. In the rooms that are missing that laughter we are reminded just how precious the moments and the memories we share truly are.

Soccer Tournament

Like older cousins often are, I was Alexis’s babysitter. I have a million stories with lying on my waterbed and watching Barney or Disney movies on repeat. One time after our sleepover she had to go to my indoor soccer tournament with me. So we loaded up on Gatorade and snacks at the store and off we went to soccer. She sat on bench snacking and being silly while I played and at half time she was out on the field shooting. I don’t know why that memory always stands out to me - maybe because it was a great day and we laughed the whole time. Maybe it was because I can look back at her as a little kid and see the kind, generous, and funny woman she would turn in to. She started her life as this shining star, the baby we were all so excited to meet, and she left the world a better place because of all she did. A fierce friend and protector of animals, I am a better person because of all she taught me.
