Sylvester L. “Snatch”, “Hump”, “Pa Pa” Scott, age 76, of Racine, passed away on Tuesday, March 19, 2024.
Sylvester was born in Saltillo, MS on August 18, 1947, a son of the late Edgar Lee and Margaret (nee: Lockridge) Scott. The oldest of eight children, he accepted Jesus Christ at an early age and was a member of Second Missionary Baptist Church.
He attended Washington Park High School and had been employed at JI Case Corporation for over thirty years.
On December 19, 1998, in Waukegan, he was united in marriage to Melvina H. (nee: Miller) Hoskins.
He enjoyed setting up shop in his garage and working on his old school cars, making barbeque grills, and other various things. He also enjoyed shooting pool, riding motorcycles, old school music, and spending time with his family.
He built a brotherhood bond with many friends.
He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Melvinnie H. Scott; his five children, Cory Scott, Dajuanda Oates, James Curtis Hoskins, Ruth Ann Parker, and Lydia Hoskins; his grandchildren, Dawn Lee, twins DeMarion and Delicia Shorter, DeKeithra (Aziz) Ward, Quenisha Triplett, Ernest Everson, Hubert Martin, Yori Hoskins, and Amari Hoskins; his twelve great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; his siblings, Roy Scott, Hattie (Jeff) Thomas, Annie Scott, and Lee (George) Tenner; his sisters-in-law, Lilly (Roger) and Benita Block; brothers-in-law, David Miller, and Wayne (Cora) Miller, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and special friends.
Along with his parents, Sylvester was preceded in death by his siblings, Alfrieda Grays, Ricky Warren, and Shirley Wright; his father and mother-in-law, Dave, and Ruthie Miller; sisters-in-law, Ethel McCray, Bessie Johnson, and his brother-in-law, Henry Miller
