Uarda 'Mike' Richens
Uarda Richens was born July 24, 1925 in Maeser, Utah. Her early years were spent on the family farm. She milked cows, drove the tractor, irrigated and helped with the bees.
In high school she took interest in courses that taught secretarial skills. She won the honor of being the fastest typist in the state of Utah. She worked many years as a secretary for the Army. A captain she worked with could never remember her name, his solution...he renamed her 'Mike'. She was Mike from that day forward.
'Mike' married a Marine named Herbert Haigh Clark on August 21, 1945 in Seattle, WA. They were sealed in the Provo Temple. Together they raised six amazing children.
Their adventures together led them to be the owners of the Library Grocery Store and the Lamplighter Motel in Rock Springs, WY. They later moved to Springville, UT where she worked as head housekeeper at the Excelsior Hotel for ten years. She and Herb bought a home with acreage in which they planted an orchard, a large garden and beautiful flower beds. 'Mike' will be remembered for her love of gardening and fondness for roses.
Her husband passed away in 2005 at which time Mike moved to Highland, UT, spending ten years at the home of her son and daughter-in law, Herb and Nancy. In 2016 she moved in with her son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Mary, in Arizona, where she resided until her death.
Uarda was a strong woman with a deep faith in her Savior and enduring love for her family. She blessed the lives of many through her selfless service and valiant example.
