Life story

It’s not very often that you come across someone who has impacted others so much, that there’s not a bad word to be spoken about them. But, that is Greg. If you were lucky enough to know him in life, you know that to be true without a shadow of a doubt. If you weren’t so lucky, it only takes a few stories from friends and family to see what an incredible person you missed out on.

Despite his large frame, Greg never made others feel small. In fact, he had a way of always making those around him feel significant. He often picked up on little details that the rest of us let slip through the cracks, only to bring them back around when we needed them most. His selflessness was genuine, and he put others’ needs above his own on a daily basis.

His book-keeping skills were unmatched. Whether you needed family birthdays, anniversaries, updated addresses, or putt putt scores- Greg had the record. Or at least had a folder (that he could find in .2 seconds), where he could find the answers you needed.

An athlete through and through, “Pops” was a well know figure at every gym and softball diamond across the state. His grandkids are still trying to figure out how grandpa made it to every single game (often multiple in a day) through any storm, construction detour, or schedule change- most of the time before warmups even finished. His presence was felt by everyone, with teammates pointing out when grandpa arrived in the stands, and countless umps catching up with him on what’s changed since last season.

Greg’s patience was evident by his commitment to his Irish Catholic bride (and her family). He and Sharon were inseparable, and completed eachother in so many areas of their lives that “love” doesn’t seem like a strong enough word to describe their bond. Through years of hard work and dedication, they built a family that continues to grow-their roots deeply sown in love and tradition. He is missed at each family gathering and every day in between, but his presence is felt in all the little things. Whether it’s the Temps playing on a restaurant radio, a deer crossing through the yard, or a 27 showing itself where it doesn’t belong- Greg has his ways of reminding the family that he is never very far from us.

Reliable, trustworthy, hardworking, respectful, compassionate. Just a few words that are most commonly used to describe Greg. If we can live in such a way that a few of these words are used to describe us, it should be considered a pretty damn good life. Let this little biography of such an incredible man be a reminder that Greg’s love and legacy will live on through the stories we tell and memories we keep.
