Travis was born on August 30, 1974 to Connie Smith and Stanley Evers in Ottumwa, Iowa. Travis had a younger sister named Shannon. Travis had always been a child of God since he was a young child and had put him on the path that led to him meeting his wife Pam. Some time before 1999, Travis had met his future wife, Pam Schafer at a church. He also had met her daughter Elizabeth (Lizzy) who thought he was pretty funny and silly. As time went on, Travis and Pam began to date and Travis would spend more time with Lizzy. He would even watch Mulan and The Lion King with her several times a day.

On September 11, 1999, Travis and Pam got married in Des Moines, Iowa. They lived in West Des Moines, Iowa for a couple years before moving out to Adel, Iowa in 2003. Travis had always treated Lizzy as his own and in February of 2001, Travis and Pam welcomed a boy named Wesley. They had their youngest daughter Caitlyn in September of 2005. In 2008, Travis adopted Lizzy so that all his kids would have the same last name, his last name. Travis was always a loving father and would attend his children's games when he could. He helped Wesley with baseball and would attend Lizzy's soccer games. He would spend a lot of time with Caitlyn.

Travis did have some hobbies he enjoyed such as playing video games. When it was football season, he spent Sunday nights watching the Cowboys play, a lot of the time they did lose. He was a big Star Wars fan and would even have family movie nights in the summertime where they would watch all movies in the order they came out in. On Tuesday and some Sunday nights, Travis and his wife Pam would go play pool with the pool league they were a part of. They also played in pool tournaments that gave them the opportunity to go to Vegas to play in a larger tournament.

Travis got the opportunity to be a grandpa to Jason, who he nicknamed 'JT', on Father's Day in June of 2016. Jason loved his Papa Travis very much and Papa Travis loved his grandson. He had even told his daughter Lizzy that he knew that Jason was going to be born on Father's Day. Jason loved to be put up on Papa's shoulder because of how tall he was.

Travis was also a very hard worker and for many years worked as a journeyman for Cornstates Fabricators. Unfortunately, hard times fell on Travis and his family around 2008 when the economy took a dive and he was laid off. During the difficult times, he leaned on his church for help and support. Travis luckily was able to work at McDonald's in Waukee after several months of searching for a new job. After awhile he became a night manager at McDonald's. After awhile, some of his coworkers helped him with getting a job at Hyvee in Waukee. Travis stayed at Hyvee until his passing.

On the night of July 23, 2020, Travis and his coworkers were going on break. Travis had collapsed and his coworkers jumped into action with calling the paramedics. The ambulance arrived on scene quick to take him to Mercy Downtown in Des Moines. Unfortunately, after attempts of life saving measures, he had succumb to the heart embolism he had. His family was very devastated to hear of his passing so soon, at the young age of 45. Travis was laid to rest in the wedding outfit his wife and daughter had picked out for him just week prior for his daughters wedding that he was to attend on August 1st. Although Travis is gone, his memory lives on and he is not forgotten as his family still shares funny memories and moments of him. Travis's family also makes sure that his granddaughter Bella knows the kind of Papa she had when he was still here.
