Papa Mike
One of Pops favorite things to do was be with his grandkids at the beach.
Michael Randolph Price was born on November 9th, 1952, in Compton, California, to his loving parents, Bill and Ginny Price. The youngest of three, Mike moved to Ben Nevis Street at just six months of age, where he grew up alongside his sisters, Linda and Pam, on what he always called the best street in Southern California. He cherished those early years—running the neighborhood, playing football with his friends, and, as he would say, getting into just a little bit of trouble.
Mike married his high school sweetheart, Sherrie Inskeep, on August 16, 1975, beginning a lifelong partnership filled with love, laughter, and unwavering devotion. He embraced every role in his life wholeheartedly—husband, brother-in-law, and Uncle Mike. Together, Mike and Sherrie raised their three daughters, Stephanie, Natalie, and Kimberly, building a family grounded in love and strength.
Mike was a proud and respected father-in-law to Scott Jones and Rick Torres, but his greatest joy came from being “Papa Mike” to his beloved grandchildren—Teagan, Lincoln, Joslyn, Avery, Dominick, and Nathaniel. They were the light of his life, and he treasured every moment spent with them.
For 22 years, Mike served as a California Highway Patrol officer with the East Los Angeles division. It was a true honor for him to serve his community. He took great pride in his work and loved sharing stories from his years on patrol—stories that reflected both his dedication and his sense of humor.
Mike was many things: a provider, a coach, a teacher, and a protector. But above all, he was a devoted husband, a loving dad, and a proud papa. He taught his family how to see themselves with confidence, how to face the world with courage, and most importantly, how to take care of one another.
Mike—Dad, Papa, and dear friend—will live on in our hearts, in our stories, and in the way we love each other, until the day we are together again.
