Painting for my heart
Thank you, Tyler!
Cameron J. Kitten was born on October 16, 1993, to Philip and Carla Kitten in Lubbock, Texas. He quickly captured their hearts along with his doting big sister, Courtney, and all those in his extended family.
Cameron grew up in the Dallas/Fort Worth area, graduating from Ponder High school in 2012. His Lubbock roots and love for Texas Tech called him home, where he successfully pursued further studies and a career as an agricultural pilot.
Cameron’s infectious smile shined brightly when he was flying, and his ambitions to pursue new piloting opportunities had no limits. He recently earned his multi-engine certification and was planning his future with family and friends, whom he cherished.
Countless people have been forever touched and uplifted by Cameron and the way he lived life fully, loved unconditionally, gently quieted the storms, and recognized that while we all falter, we are each a child of God who is given a light to shine and a heart to inspire. Cameron didn’t exist on this earth to be right but to do right – right by the Lord, his family, friends, and strangers who he openly embraced. He was faithful, dependable, and a trusted son, brother, and friend to all.
While Cameron left this earth far too soon, his spirit and beautiful legacy will always remain. It is his gift to all of us to not leave with a broken heart but instead to fill your hearts with compassion and make a choice every day to love deeply, listen intently, hug hard, laugh freely, breathe in goodness, embrace the beauty of a blue sky, and never miss the opportunity to make a stranger smile. Fly high and be the wind that carries the wings of others.
Cameron is survived by his mother, Carla Robinson Kitten; father and step-mother, Phillip and Brendi Kitten; sister, Courtney Ellis and husband David; grandfather Alvin Kitten. He was preceded in death by his grandmothers, Agnes Kitten and Gay Robinson, who are hugging him tightly in heaven.
He undoubtedly still looks after his grandfather, Carl Robinson Sr. (July 2021) now reunited in heaven and is smiling upon us with his faithful blue heeler, Gus, by his side.

When Our Love Seems Lost
I held a party the other week and grief came. She wasn’t invited but she came anyway - barged her way in through the door and settled down like she was here to stay. And then she introduced me to the friends she’d brought with her - Anger. Fear. Frustration. Guilt. Hopelessness. And they sang in the loudest voices, took up space in every corner of the room and spoke over anyone else that tried to talk. They made it messy and loud and uncomfortable. But finally, they left. And long afterwards, when I was all alone, I realised there was still someone here. Quietly clearing up after the rest. I asked who she was and she told me, “Love.” And I assumed that’s why she looked familiar - because I had met her before. “Or perhaps,” she said, “it’s because I’ve been here the whole time.” And I was confused then because I hadn’t seen her all evening. But when I looked more closely, when I looked into her eyes, I realised quietly that she had been here. All the time. She’d just been dressed as grief. ***** Becky Hemsley 2023 Image created with Canva ❤ ‘Afterparty’ is from the book When I Am Gone
