Lusia Pikula Mataele Angilau, 69, passed away peacefully on January 23, 2012 surrounded by her family at her home in Kearns after a courageous battle with cancer. Lusia was born on January 30, 1942 in Ha'akame, Tonga to Pauliasi Pikula Mataele and Mele Tu'unga'a Toala. When Lusia was five years old, her mother passed away. Her father remarried Kaulamusu Taimani who raised Lusia as her own.
She attended and graduated from Liahona High School in Liahona, Tonga where she met her eternal companion, Viliami Feilo Pupungatoa Angilau. They were married on February 5, 1962 in Nuku'alofa, Tonga and later sealed in the Laie, Hawaii Temple. Lusia and Toa would have celebrated 50 years of marriage on February 5, 2012.
Our mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, wife, sister, aunt and friend was a woman of simplicity. She loved her family dearly as she loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her beautiful, loving smile greeted all as she was a woman that spoke more in her actions than words. In her spare time, she loved to sew, cook, garden, and serve others. Attending the temple and reading the scriptures were her passion for she loved the Savior. She served faithfully in every calling in her Tongan wards, most recently in the Kearns 9th Ward in the Tongan South Stake. In her final days, special care and tenderness was given by her husband, grandchildren, children, and close friend, Amelia Fatu Lapale. The family extends their appreciation to all family and friends who over the past months have offered their love and care for Lusia.
She is survived by her second Mother, Kaulamusu Taimani Pikula, Husband, Viliami Feilo P.
