James Albert Thielen
Thank you for your service
James served in the armed forces. We honor that service here.
Jimmy was born on June 5, 1932 in Chicago, IL to Albert and Lucille (Bremner) Thielen. He was the oldest brother to Robert and Richard Thielen. He graduated from St Mel’s High School and Loyola University in Chicago, Illinois. He served our country in the U.S. Army from 1954 to 1956. After his service, he established a career as a salesman in the home furnishing industry. He enjoyed spending time with his customers, and they enjoyed his regular visits. He married the love of his life, Helen Jane (Froehlke) on December 29, 1962 at Saint Patrick’s Church in Elkhorn, Wisconsin.
He was a beloved and supportive husband, father, and grandpa. In his younger years, he enjoyed sailing and later in life, loved being the captain of his pontoon boat. He would frequently stop and chat with friends and family while circling the lake. He was always telling a joke or a story and you could count on him to be the life of the party. His laugh was loud and hearty and his smile contagious. He held his family and his friends close to his heart. He enjoyed watching all his grandchildren’s sporting events and school performances.
Jimmy will be remembered for his sense of humor and unending love of his family. He was a provider, protector, confidant, and instructor. He would do anything to show support and love for his family and grandchildren which gave him great joy. Jimmy is survived by his loving wife Helen of 57 years, his children Margie (Michael) Lawlor, Diane (Brian) Garelli, Tracy (Keith) Bezdek, Mary Pat (Steve) Treadwell and his grandchildren Jimmy, Megan, and Colleen Lawlor; Matthew, Katie, and Emma Garelli; and Jack Treadwell.
Jimmy and his family are most grateful for the loved shared by many friends and family members throughout his life and those who shared a story or a joke with him through the years. He was deeply loved.
