Life story

Logan Christopher Karstaedt, 16, of Darien WI, passed away unexpectedly as a result of an accident on Wednesday, June 21, 2023. He was born on March 20, 2007 in Beloit, WI; the first-born son of Christopher and Anna (Stackhouse) Karstaedt. He attended Clinton Community Schools. Logan enjoyed all things outdoors, gatherings with extended family, hanging out with his friends, trying new things and challenging himself.

His summers were spent fishing, swimming, and waterskiing in Hayward, camping and tubing, alongside his cousins, younger and older. He was determined to participate in everything they did fearlessly tackling any challenge, undeterred by his age or size. He was content, up for any adventure with an enthusiasm for life and a huge smile that illuminated his entire face.

Completing his sophomore year at Clinton Jr Sr High School, Logan actively pursued his passions. He participated in football, excelled in track and field, and was a member of the German club. He loved pole vaulting and was talented at it, recently clearing 13 feet under the guidance of his dedicated coaches and support of his fellow pole vaulters. He encouraged and supported others in their own journey to mastering Pole Vault.

Logan's tenacity was unparalleled. Whether it was remodeling a boat and engine, replacing a kitchen sink, or honing his pole-vaulting skills, he approached every task with initiative and resourcefulness. Through diligent research, seeking guidance when needed, and sheer willpower, Logan got things done. His willingness to challenge himself, led to a trip to Germany with other Clinton Students, parents and community members this past year. This instilled in him a desire for further exploration. He found solace in the grandeur of mountains abroad and the serene prairies near his home. Riding his dad's dirt bike across the land brought him peace.

With a heart full of loyalty and compassion, Logan held his family and friends dear. After sporting events, he would eagerly jog over to express his gratitude with a heartfelt hug. His warm and affable nature resonated with those around him. Logan was a sought-after server at the Turtle Tap and Grill. One could often spot him gracefully maneuvering through tables, chatting with patrons while expertly balancing plates. Logan's unwavering dedication to everything he undertook was evident in his commitment to his summer training regimen, driven by his ambition to qualify for the state level in pole vaulting during the upcoming track season. Logan gave 110% to all he did. A young man with a clear vision, he conducted extensive research, invested considerable effort, and maintained unwavering focus on achieving success in all his endeavors. As he anticipated life after high school, Logan was an outstanding student and excelled academically. He had a plan and was diligently preparing to achieve his goals with the guidance of his many teachers and coaches.

Logan enjoyed hanging out with his friends and cherished every bond he could create with others. He was genuine and made many connections with many people in all his life adventures. He found a new sense of freedom upon getting his Driver’s License. The door had been opened, he happily and willingly stepped out to find his independence.

He was always willing to try new things and encouraging others to do so as well. Logan took up learning how to play the Ukulele and succeeded in learning many songs. Just recently he invested in an electric guitar and a record player. He found great joy in making and listening to music.

Within his family, Logan looked up to his older cousins and assumed the role of a mentor to his younger relatives. Logan held a special place in the heart of his younger sister. He embodied the essence of a big brother, delighting in launching her high into the air on the trampoline and encouraging her to try new things and just “go for it.” The void left by his absence will be deeply felt by countless individuals whose lives he touched.

The outpouring of support for his family is a true testament to the people Logan touched. Logan is survived by his parents, Christopher and Anna; sister, Kylie Karstaedt; grandparents Sheryl Stackhouse of Janesville, Steve (Cindy) Karstaedt, and Judy Karstaedt; aunts and uncles, Ethan Karstaedt and his children: Brandon and Aaliyah; Mindy Tracy and her children: Colin and Easton; Christopher (Suzanne) Stackhouse and their children: Jensine, Halle, Brinley and Charlie; Donelle (Quinton) Studer and their children: Quinton and Weston; Matthew (Lisa) Stackhouse and their children: Mat’Tiana, Omarion, Page, Deanna and Brandon. He is preceded in death by grandfather, Donald Stackhouse.
