The Shannon Romanchuk Saturno Foundation, Inc. was created in 2022 to honor our beautiful daughter, Shannon, whose warmth, smile, laughter and love touched everyone she met. She was a devoted sister, wife and a wonderful mommy to her daughter Siena Hope. The birth of her daughter, in November 2013, brought her so much love, happiness and fun. Shannon was a fighter from day one and Siena gave her the will to fight even harder.

Shannon was a dancer, runner, traveler and a passionate educator who loved teaching Grade 3 Inclusion at Babylon Elementary School. One of Shannon’s favorite relaxing pastimes was being at the beach. Overlook Beach was our family beach and Shannon continued going with her own family. The Town of Babylon dedicated a pink playground in Shannon’s honor. Unfortunately, the erosion had caused the Town to remove it, but we have been informed a new one will be installed this summer (2025). We are so happy and honored.

In 2013, while six months pregnant, Shannon was diagnosed with aggressive breast cancer. Despite her tough battle, she remained strong, creating lasting memories with her family and friends. Sadly, Shannon passed away in 2016 surrounded by love.

The Foundation celebrates Shannon’s legacy by awarding scholarships to senior students, in both general and special education, supporting charitable organizations, and helping pass “Shannon’s Law” allowing women to receive mammograms at age 35.

Our mission continues to honor Shannon’s spirit by helping others and making a difference. She had so much love and support, from so many and her hope was to give back once she was well enough. And so, here we are doing our best to make her proud and always remembered.
