Jose Luis Gastelum Luna nació el 9 de marzo de 1954 en Quetchehueca, Cajeme, Sonora, México. Se casó con Martha Ávila Mendoza con quién tuvo 2 hijas y 1 varón. Fue miembro de la Iglesia de Jesucristo de los Santos de los Últimos Días y prestó servicio desinteresado por muchos años. Se graduó como ingeniero agrónomo desde joven y se desempeño en
varios trabajos de ese mismo giro. Con los años tuvo nietos a quienes amó, cuidó y enseñó. Jose Luis para siempre será un ejemplo absoluto de servicio al prójimo y amor sincero.
