Leroy Michael Engelbrecht
"I suppose the most important thing in a person's life is happiness." -Elvis Presley "Earthly Angels do not allow other souls to dim their light; they just keep shining bright" - Unknown "Live fast, fight hard, no regrets!" -John Cena
Leroy Michael Engelbrecht was born on January 11, 1966 in Indiana to Leroy and Elizabeth Lucille Engelbrecht. Leroy "Mike" graduated from Forrest Park in 1988. He was part of the Special Olympics from grade school all the way until he graduated. Mike worked at Jasper Rubber where he was a janitor. He loved working and feeling like he was helping people. He made a lot of friends, and girlfriends! If you knew Mike you knew he loved his family more that anything, well besides Christmas and his birthday. After the passing of Mike's father, Lucille found companionship with Robert (Bob) Northrup, who she later married. Bob stepped in and became another father to Mike. The 2 of them became very close and Mike looked up to Bob in many ways. Mike had 1 brother, and 3 brother-in-laws. 3 sisters, and 1 sister-in-law. 8 nieces and nephews, and 16 great nieces and nephews. Mike was the definition of and angel on earth He was a blessing that not near enough people got to experience but his friends family, coworkers and even people in the community were fortunate enough to have been in his beautiful presence. Mike didn't understand a lot of things but he did understand that he had the power to make people smile and be happy and he loved doing it more than anything. We all know he didn't realize how much of an impact he had on so many people he was there teaching each of us lessons in his own way that none of us knew we even needed, and we will carry them with us the rest of our lives. He may be gone from sight and even touch but he will never be forgotten and will forever be in our hearts.
