Ray Leroy Dietz
Thank you for your service
Ray served in the armed forces. We honor that service here.
My father Ray Dietz was a retired fire chief from Braceville, ohio. He passed away October 23rd, 2022. He loved his community dearly and helped everyone as much as possible! He lived a great 81 years and as we all wished he could have lived even more we are glad he no longer has to suffer with his COPD anymore and is finally able to breathe freely in heaven.
Raymond L. “Ray” Dietz, age 81, of Marengo, passed away Sunday afternoon, October 23, 2022, at Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center.
On November 30, 1940, Ray was born in Warren, Ohio, a son of the late Delbert C. and Iona M. (Klugh) Dietz. He graduated from Lordstown High School in the Class of 1958.
Ray proudly served his country in the United States Army.
For more than 40 years Ray worked in fire service and was Fire Chief for the Braceville Fire Department for more than 20 years. In addition, he worked as a long-haul truck driver over the years.
Ray was a member of the American Legion Post 710 where he served as Post Commander for 10 years. He was also on the board of Seniors On Center in Mount Gilead.
Watching the Cleveland Indians was a favorite pastime of Ray’s. He enjoyed Fox News, playing Bingo at the American Legion and collecting state quarters. He loved cats, especially his favorite one, “Dude.”
Ray could be rather hard headed and stubborn at times, but he could also be very loveable and had a big heart and a great attitude.
Ray is survived by two children: Macala Dietz of Columbus, Chris (Lisa) Dietz of Ravenna; two grandchildren: Tristan and Garrett Dietz; a brother, Earl (Kathy) Dietz of Lordstown; and his “second children” Kenzie and Chase Fletcher.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, William “Moose” Dietz.
