Life story

As the sun rose on Friday, February 17, 2023, it marked the beginning of what should have been just another day in the life of Ashton Lee Pryor. But fate had other plans, plans that would forever alter the course of countless lives.

At approximately 6:50 A.M., tragedy struck in the form of a car wreck. Ashton, a vibrant 17-year-old with a zest for life, was driving with her younger sister Peyton. Their journey took a sudden and devastating turn when their Jeep collided with a guardrail, causing the vehicle to overturn. In an instant, Ashton's journey on this earth came to an abrupt end, leaving behind a void that could never be filled.

Ashton, a Junior at Boonville High School, was more than just a student; she was a force of nature. Full of sass, spunk, and an abundance of love, her presence had a magnetic effect on those around her. With her trademark fake eyelashes, big sunglasses, and a confidence that radiated from within, Ashton was affectionately dubbed "bougie" by her friends. But beyond her fashionable exterior lay a heart of gold, always ready with a smile and those three simple words that held so much power: "I love you."

Her dreams extended far beyond the walls of her high school. Ashton was eagerly anticipating the next chapter of her life at Indiana State University, where she planned to follow in the footsteps of her older sister, Randi Jo. Together, they envisioned sharing the college experience and creating cherished memories. Ashton's passion for working with children, nurtured through her time at the YMCA, had ignited a desire to become an elementary school teacher. Her dedication and determination to make a difference in the lives of young minds were unwavering.

In the wake of such a devastating loss, the Pryor family found solace in their faith, grateful for the 17 years they were blessed to spend with Ashton. Amidst their grief, they were uplifted by the outpouring of love and support from their community. Each gesture, each expression of sympathy, served as a reminder of the impact Ashton had made during her all-too-brief time on earth.

Ashton's favorite color, pink, became a symbol of remembrance, a tribute to her vibrant spirit and the love she shared so freely. And as her family sought to honor her memory, they embraced the mantra #LLAP—Love Like Ashton Pryor—a testament to the enduring legacy of a young woman who touched the lives of all who knew her.

Though Ashton may no longer walk among us, her light continues to shine brightly, illuminating the hearts of those who carry her memory with them always. As they navigate the journey forward, they find comfort in knowing that Ashton's love lives on, forever etched in the fabric of their lives.
