“I aren’t a sleep I am just resting my eyes”
Stephen was a selfless man who always put the needs of his family before his own.
Stephen met the love of his life Wendy on a blind date in January 1978 at Jollees. They then went on to marry one another on 15th July 1978. They have been inseparable ever since.
Wendy and Stephen had three amazing children; Kirsty, Simon and Stephanie who so far have given them 10 Grandchildren; Mark, Michael, Michaela, Bradley, Courtney, Charlie, Josh, Alfie, Archie, and Grace. The Grandchildren have also given Stephen Great Grandchildren in Megan, Myles, Miller, Macauley, Rocco and Eliza.
The 80s was tough due to the water board strikes, which resulted in Stephen and Wendy losing their home but they bounced back and purchased their home on Tyson Green where they would spend the next 37 years and make countless memories.
Stephen was truly a family man and enjoyed nothing more than spending time with his children and grandchildren.
Unfortunately, Stephen’s life was cut short at 62, on 2nd November 2018 after long battle with illness.

Steph’s favourite memory (second daughter)
I have 3 best memories of dad the first one being buying him his first scooter the look on his face was priceless as he got some of his freedom back because he was able to get out again and he went missing one day on it he decided to take himself to longton to buy 2 tables and he came back with them on his scooter between his legs x the second best memory was every Thursday when mum had to go work all day at buck-null hospital so every Thursday it would be dad and daughter day and we went somewhere different every week and he use to say thank you so much I have really enjoyed myself x my final best memory was every Christmas since I moved out of Tyson green he would buy me a cuddly Christmas soft toy and he said they were my children because I would never have any and he used to always write a letter and attach it to them asking if I would adopt them xx
Michaela’s Favourite Memories
I remember sitting with Grandad in the conservatory at Tyson Green, watching Tom and Jerry whilst talking to Grandad for hours. Riding our bikes around on the garages and getting J20s out of Grandad’s shed at christmas. Visits to the Club were always fun, especially at Christmas for the Panto’s. The trips to Wales and Blackpool each year will always be some of the best holidays I’ll ever have. Helping Grandad with his tomatoes in the greenhouse, eating them on my sandwich even though I couldn’t stand them. When Megan was born Grandad and Nan were the best Great Grand Parents and helped us in anyway they could. Megan loved going to visit Grandad and loved playing with the Meerkats! Visiting Grandad with Nan and Megan the day before he passed will stay with me forever, you looked the best you’d looked in years and I remember thinking Grandad had got through the hard part and I’d see Grandad again tomorrow, tomorrow never came. There’s not a day that goes by where I don’t think about you Grandad or I look at the meerkat you gave me and smile. We will always miss you and love you Grandad x
Marks Favourite Memory
My favourite memory with grandad has to be Christmas. Him and Nana would make it so special for us all. We all used to open our presents at the same time, Nana would make her famous gammon (that I still ask for today) and her trifle. I would sit in the dining room or conservatory with Grandad and he would let me have fizzy pop and all the snacks. Miss you. Love Mark xx

Kirsty’s Favourite Memory (Eldest Daughter)
My favourite memory is Dad coming primary school telling the teacher I had the dentist but I didn't have an appointment he took me the old cannon cinema to watch Santa Claus the movie when it had just come out; it was a Thursday afternoon there was only me and grandad in there, we sat on the back row 🫶🎅. We also used to watch The Goonies and ET xxx
