Albert “Conky” Hartnett Rojo Jr.
Born in Ysleta TX; raised in Marfa and Alpine TX; attended elementary grades at Our Lady of Peace Catholic School, middle school at Centennial School and high school at Alpine High School. He was an all-around athlete and excelled as quarterback for the Alpine Bucks. He attended Sul Ross for a couple of years. He met Linda Valenzuela in 1970. A long distance communication began with meetings in Dec-1970, May-1971, June-1971. A relationship was developing with Linda moving back to Alpine in Aug-1971. Conky and Linda started dating and committed to each other early 1972. They were engaged on Xmas Eve 1972. They married on Saturday, June 30, 1973. All of Linda’s California family made the trip to their hometown of Alpine to attend the wedding. They honeymooned in Houston. In 1974 they bought their first home at 604 North Orange by Buck stadium. They welcomed their first son, Ronnie Albert, on July 4, 1977. Albert was working at Safeway and Linda worked for Bowers & DeHart. They decided to move to San Jose Ca and made the move on October-1978. Linda got a job at the USPS and Conky soon followed also employed by the USPS. A second son, Ricky Albert, was born on March 14, 1981. A daughter, Sandra Ann, was born on April 30, 1985. On 1987, Conky and Linda bought their home in San Jose after a long search for the perfect house. The kids had their own rooms and enjoyed the neighborhood full of kids. The boys played baseball and football in the street reminding us of playing in the streets of Alpine. Conky and Linda kept the house in Alpine as a rental. Conky loved his San Jose home and loved working on his lawn, his yard. He planted rose bushes with much success. There was a lemon tree and two apple trees that he enjoyed caring for. Conky loved to sit in the garage and had music playing all day long. All his life he loved to play music, cd’s and later had a 3,000+ song playlist on Spotify. Spotify replaced our enormous cd collection. He was a lifelong Dallas Cowboy fan and Oakland A’s fan.
I hope you’re enjoying music in heaven. I miss you like nothing I’ve ever experienced. I miss you and think of you every second of every minute of every day…..MY POOPS, MY POOPIE. I can’t wait to see you again and be in your arms for eternity. I miss your hugs and kisses, which were daily for 52 years!! All my Love, Linda
