Billie Geraldine O'Daniel Obituary
Billie Geraldine "Geri" O'Daniel, also known as "Mimi", a beacon of love and generosity, passed away peacefully at home on April 2, 2025, at the age of 91 in Corsicana, TX. Born on August 2, 1933, in Tahoka, TX, Geri was a woman of remarkable intelligence and kindness, whose presence enriched the lives of all who knew her.
Geri's early life in Texas laid the foundation for her spirited personality. She graduated from Lovington High School in New Mexico, where she shone brightly as a majorette from 1946 to 1949. Her vibrant spirit and leadership qualities were evident even then, captivating all who watched her perform.
Her work ethic was nothing short of extraordinary. In Lubbock, Geri juggled multiple jobs with grace, working in a law office, the courthouse, and managing the Hilton Hotel restaurant—all in a single day—to ensure her children were well provided for. Later, in Arlington, she brought her talents to a title company, where her meticulous nature and dedication shone through.
Geri's crowning professional achievement came in 1977 when she and her beloved husband, Harold Wayne O'Daniel, established G&H Manufacturing, Inc. in Arlington, TX. Drawing on over 25 years of experience in accounting, office management, and administration, she was instrumental in the company's growth and success. Together, Geri and Harold expanded their business and eventually retired comfortably, leaving a legacy of entrepreneurial spirit and hard work.
Family was the cornerstone of Geri's life. She was a devoted wife to Harold and a loving mother to her children: Jackie Olen Hunt (preceded in death), Debbie Davis and her husband Dean, Sid Hunt and his wife Leah, Greg Hunt and his wife Susan, Richie O'Daniel and his wife Bobbie, Mary Ann O'Daniel (preceded in death), Dusty O'Daniel, Jamie Cassidy and her husband David, and Blake O'Daniel and his wife Tracy. Geri was also a cherished sister to Janice Cotton Blankenship, Lathan Garnett, and Jimmy Garnett, and she was lovingly remembered by her siblings Willie Lewis Garnett, Lodema Dobson, Janelle Jones, and Cressie Hairston, all of whom preceded her in death.
Her parents, Willie Turnley Garnett (1902-1986) and Winnie Evelyn Garnett (1901-1987), instilled in her the values of kindness and philanthropy, which she carried throughout her life. Geri's legacy includes 16 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great-grandchildren, all of whom will remember her for her boundless love and the joy she brought into their lives.
Geri's interests were as colorful and diverse as her personality. She had a passion for shopping, a love for the timeless beauty of antiques, and an insatiable appetite for reading that kept her mind sharp. Her love for traveling took her to many places, and her generosity extended to numerous charities. Geri had a heart of gold, and she never hesitated to help those in need.
Those who knew Geri will remember her as a loving, intelligent, and generous soul, whose impact on their lives cannot be overstated. She was the matriarch of her family, a pillar of her community, and a friend to all. Geri's warmth, wisdom, and unwavering support will be deeply missed by everyone who had the privilege of knowing her.
As we bid farewell to Billie Geraldine "Geri" O'Daniel, we celebrate a life beautifully lived and a woman dearly loved. Her spirit will continue to guide and inspire us, and her memory will forever be cherished in our hearts.
