Life story
Dakota Humphries born August 24, 2003 to Kirk Humphries and Cherish (Curry) Humphries. He was an only child who loved everyone he met. He was full of life and lived each day to the fullest extent possible. He never met a stranger. Dakota gave his life to Christ which provides great comfort to his loved ones as we know he is in heaven waiting for the day he is able to show everyone around. Dakota loved music and at times he would skip songs to find just the right one he wanted to hear. He ensured that the family had music to listen to on the beach during our trips or when camping he made sure something was playing while riding around on the golf carts, watching the fireworks or just sitting back by the fire. He was an animal lover. He had three dogs (Lady, Jake and Katie) and three cats (Aida, Cooter and Trooper) and had started a small flock of sheep and at one time had a flock of chickens. Dakota had multiple nicknames (Bones, Kota, Banjo, D.) were just a few. He enjoyed his green Toyota that he purchased by participating in the Augusta County Market Animal Shows where he showed sheep for several years as a part of the Buffalo Gap FFA. He enjoyed swimming, fishing, hunting, climbing, jumping over about anything, camping, and just being with his family and friends. He graduated from Buffalo Gap High School in 2022 where he participated in Cross Country, Winter and Spring track. He held employment with his dad at KP Humphries Construction until he was able to work for Valley Earth and Pipe and then worked for Amazon prior to his passing. He touched the lives of many and upon his passing he still has a way of touching lives. He was a member of Village Church in Churchville. When he worked at Amazon his biggest issue was missing church on Sundays. Dakota has a close-knit family that loves him, and he loved right back and enjoyed spending lots of time with. Dakota would generally pick family time over any other activity as he found family to be important to him. Dakota will forever be missed. He will always be held in our hearts each and every day. We will never understand the reason for this terrible accident that occurred on 9/16/23 to Dakota who was a wonderful, caring, loving individual, but we do know the day will come that it will no longer matter as we will have joined him.

Every year at Christmas you either picked or we gave you a nutcracker since you were 4 years old until you passed. This year a bench was placed in the park where you left this earth and went to meet Jesus. So what better ideas could we come up with then to make 2 nutcrackers and have on each side of the bench. We hope they bering joy to many as they pass by this Christmas season. Merry Christmas 2025.
