Life story

I was born in Hamilton Texas. I lived in several different places up until I was around 13. My family was living in Granbury at that time because my dad was employed at General Dynamics. He always wanted to farm and we moved back to Hamilton. The house I grew up in during my teen years is just about three miles north of here. The house is long gone now but the memories of bottle-feeding lambs, having chickens and cows is a wonderful way to grow up.

I met Jr in the seventh grade when I transferred from Evant to Hamilton. We went through middle school together as friends.

By the second semester of our sophomore year things changed between us and we became one of those high school couples. If you seen one, the other was not far away. We married January 3, 1980 and started a journey that was to last 43 years.

I always wanted to me a mom, to stay home and raise my children. I was fortunate to be able to do that. We have four children and to say they fulfilled me would be an understatement. Bradley was born in 1983. Chelsea was born in 1985 and she was difficult, we waited until 1989 for Corbin. Lauren was born in 1991. I am so proud of them.

After Lauren went to school, I decided to enter the workforce. I worked at a law firm, tile company, our business, a financial company, the State prison system and TxDot. I got to do a great many things, some were just more enjoyable than others.

I looked forward like most moms to the grandchildren. I have some wonderful grandchildren and really enjoyed my new title of “Gram”. Ryker, Ellisyn and Meryn are Chelsea’s children. Otis came next and is Bradley’s child. Jack is the newest and he is Lauren’s child.

I enjoyed traveling and warm weather. Family vacations mean a lot to me and we started taking yearly vacations when the children were very little. I don’t remember the year but we initially went to Galveston, one of my favorite places with my parents, brothers and their children each summer. We would find a large house for a week and many wonderful memories were made.
