Eleanor Theresa Maroon
Ellie graduated from St. Philomena Grade School (1962) & Academy of Our Lady High School (1966). She also attended Orlando (FL) Junior College and Bradley University.
Ellie met her future husband, Charles “Chuck” Maroon, while working after school at the Peoria Journal Star in 1966.
Chuck and Ellie wed on April 26, 1969, and went on to celebrate 54 years of marriage. They have four children.
Over the years, Ellie was employed by the Peoria Journal Star, Morton Chamber of Commerce, and Illinois Mutual Insurance.
She was a faithful member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church and Cursillo. She treasured her 50 years of monthly Bunco gatherings with with high school friends.
Ellie had a gift of knowing just the right thing to say to make everyone she encountered feel special.
She loved to cook, travel, decorate for every holiday (especially Christmas), and make crafts for her friends and family.
Above all, she loved being a wife, a mom, a grandma, and great grandma. She was known by all as “Gigi."
Her favorite phrase was “you never know when you’re making a memory.” We are truly blessed to have memories with Ellie to cherish.
