Elizabeth (Betty) Ann Van Gurp
Betty Van Gurp (nee McLaughlin) left us on June 17, 2025, after navigating her illness with extraordinary strength, courage and grace.
She was the heart of her family. Betty was the cherished wife to Tony, a devoted mother to Angie (Kevin Helmer) and Jenny (Lee Wright), a proud and loving Nana to Ty, Mason, Thomas, Patrick and Claire, a beloved sister to Linda (Ian Pollock), Susan (Dave Young), Mary (John Dewar), Kathy McLaughlin, Bobby McLaughlin (Colleen) and Faye (John Chamberlain), Sister-in-Law to Gerty Tenbult, Peter Van Gurp (Bernadette) and Gerald Van Gurp (Deborah) and a treasured aunt to many nieces and nephews.
Betty had a deep love for life and a generous spirit. She found joy in traveling, entertaining friends and family, and cheering on her favourite hockey team. Her greatest happiness came from time spent with her grandchildren and loved ones. A devoted educator and caregiver, Betty dedicated herself to nurturing and inspiring children, leaving a lasting impact on countless young lives. She leaves behind a legacy of love, compassion, and quiet strength that will live on in the hearts of her family and friends.
