Life story

Gabriel Martinez was born on April 12, 1970. He suddenly passed away at the early age of 54 on June 12, 2024. Gabriel graduated from Quincy High School in 1989 and continued his education at Wyoming Technical Institute where he earned an Associate of Applied Sciences specializing in diesel technology. While in Wyoming, Gabriel met his beloved wife, Lisa. Gabriel and Lisa were married in Quincy in 1993. They had two beautiful children, Sarah and Gabriel Jr, which he was so proud of. He had two grandchildren, Micah and Mia, which he adored. He was a family man, very involved in his children's lives and proud of their accomplishments. He loved kids and was there to support his nieces and nephews in whatever they did. Gabriel's whole purpose in life was to be a good provider for his family. He came across as being a tough man but deep down he had a gentle heart.

Gabriel was known as a jack of all trades. He was willing to drop whatever he was doing to help a friend, family member or even a stranger in need. Gabriel was a hard worker and his wife Lisa had to remind him to slow down and take some time to enjoy life. He turned the support from his family, the skills he learned, and his love for semi-trucks into a career. He initially took over the family business started by his father, Johnny Martinez, and continued to grow the business. He was a CDL tester and in 2015 founded MTZ CDL Academy. Together with his son Gabriel Jr, he dedicated himself to teaching students the safety and skills required to drive semi-trucks. He had high expectations and would challenge and push his students. He took great pride in his students and did whatever he could to help them succeed, not only in their careers but in their personal lives.

Gabriel easily made friends and loved to talk to anyone. He was a devoted fan of the Seahawks, enjoyed watching boxing matches, loved family barbecues, and cherished camping trips at Spring Canyon. He was the one in the family to remind everyone that a holiday was coming up and it was time to decide where we were going to get together. He was a passionate supporter of wrestling, frequently attending and contributing to local wrestling events. He is survived by his loving wife, Lisa Martinez; daughter, Sarah Pinto (Edward), son, Gabriel Jr. Martinez; grandchildren, Micah and Mia Pinto; mother, Mary Martinez; and siblings, Susie Medrano (Pat), Johnny Martinez, Fred Martinez, Greg Martinez (Abby), and Elizabeth Kondo (Ross). He was preceded in death by his father, Johnny Martinez. Gabriel will be remembered for his tireless work ethic, his readiness to assist others, and his loving heart.
