Life story

Hector's journey, from his birth in Guatemala to his passing surrounded by loved ones, paints a picture of a life rich in love, passion, and connection. His story reflects the deep bonds he shared with his family and friends, his love for sports, and his vibrant personality.

Born on August 20th, 1976, Hector's upbringing alongside his brother and sister under the care of Hector and Zoila Leiva laid the foundation for the man he would become. His early affinity for sports, particularly his beloved LA Dodgers, hints at his passion for the game and his loyalty to his team.

Meeting Reyna Flores in high school marked the beginning of a lifelong partnership filled with love and companionship. Their marriage on July 31st, 1999, and the subsequent 25 years together underscore the depth of their bond and the memories they created.

Their journey led them from Colorado to California, where they planted roots and welcomed their children, Josue, Licianie, and Natalie, into the world. Years later, he would come to regard Brianna, his daughter-in-law, as if she were his own. Hector's devotion to his family shines through in every aspect of his life, from coaching his children's sports teams to being a constant presence at their school functions.

His love for sports, particularly his cherished teams like the LA Dodgers, Las Vegas Raiders, and LA Kings, reflected his enthusiasm for life and his ability to find joy in the simple pleasures. Yet, above all else, it was his family that brought him the greatest happiness.

Hector's passing on June 4th, 2024, marked the end of a life lived to the fullest, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and cherished memories. Though he may no longer be with us, his spirit lives on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.

In memory of Hector, his infectious laugh, unwavering sense of humor, and beautiful smile serve as a reminder of the light he brought into the lives of others. He may be gone, but he will never be forgotten.

Rest in peace, Big Hex.
