Herman “Pep” Krening
Thank you for your service
Herman served in the armed forces. We honor that service here.
Herman "Pep" Krening, a stalwart of Loveland, CO, and a beacon of devotion, graced this world with his presence on August 20, 1926. Born to George and Mary Krening, Herman's journey unfolded against the backdrop of his beloved hometown.
In 1944, Herman answered the call to serve his country, enlisting in the US Navy with bravery and determination. Following his honorable discharge in 1946, Herman's path intertwined with destiny when he met Mary Joan Knox, igniting a love story that would span a lifetime.
Duty called once more, and Herman rejoined the Navy Reserve in 1950, stationed in Yokosuka, Japan, until 1953. Returning to Loveland, he dedicated 34 years to the Bureau of Reclamation Big Thompson Project, embodying the values of hard work and dedication.
An active member of his community, Herman found kinship and camaraderie in organizations such as VFW Post #15, Moose Lodge #484, and N.A.R.F. Chapter #21. Yet, amidst his service, Herman found joy in the simple pleasures—spending cherished moments with his family and honing his craft in his workshop, where his skilled hands fashioned treasures for loved ones.
Herman's legacy lives on through his devoted wife, Mary, and their four daughters: Diana Lyn, Janet Kay (Bruce), Sue Ann (Eric), and Cindy Jean (Dannie). His spirit continues to resonate through his grandchildren, Luke, Amber, Lindsey, and great-granddaughter, Izabella.
As we bid farewell to Herman, we celebrate a life well-lived—a life marked by service, love, and unwavering dedication. Though he may have left this world on July 26, 2010, Herman's memory remains etched in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him—a testament to the enduring power of love and the indelible mark of a life lived with purpose.
