Life story

- Jacqui Demar O'Neal, 51, of Greenville, S.C., passed away after a valiant battle with Cancer on Saturday, March 26, 2022.

A native of the Upstate, Jacqui was the daughter of Priscilla T. McCullough and the late James O'Neal. Jacqui is now reunited with her beloved Stepmother, Lillie O'Neal and Stepfather, Bernard McCullough.

In addition to her mother, she is survived by three sisters, Brandi McCullough, Mary McCullough, and Ashley O'Neal; one brother, James O'Neal; four nieces, Taylor McCullough, April McCullough, Kristin McCullough, and Serenity O'Neal; one nephew, Anthony Hutcheson; and two God daughters, Ayasophia Evrendilek and Sabelle Evrendilek. Jacqui was also blessed to be loved by the extended O'Neal, McCullough, and Bowen Families.

Jacqui's greatest joy came when she was with her friends, especially a very close circle of women that were the loves of her life. She forged tight bonds with these fierce women who were there for her through thick and thin. No matter the distance, time zone, or stage of life, these mainstays provided unconditional love and formed bonds that can never be broken. She became an integral part of their lives and will always be remembered for her loyalty, trust and generosity.

After attending J.L. Mann high school, Jacqui attended Clemson University and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting. She spent most of her 30 year long career in Global Trade and was fortunate to travel to many different states and 12 countries, including Mexico, Canada, Czech Republic, Scotland, England, Italy, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, Jamaica, Germany, Switzerland, and France.

Jacqui was young at heart. She made us laugh with her Cher and Shakira impressions, and her many funny stories. She loved to dance and whenever she heard music, no matter where it was, she would get up and enjoy the moment. She loved children and was an "Auntie" to many. Her infectious smile and laugh will live on through them and through all of us forever.

She enjoyed running, playing games, watching movies and comedy shows, attending festivals, and walking her dog. She didn't miss an opportunity to celebrate a loved one's Birthday, where she would inevitably become the light of the party. She was an avid college football fan and enjoyed cheering on her beloved Clemson Tigers.

Jacqui made our world a better place. She was kind, compassionate, and had the unique ability to make everyone feel like her "best friend". She never knew a stranger and always made you feel welcomed. To know Jacqui, was to be loved by her.

She was quoted with saying, "I love traveling the world, experiencing new adventures, and meeting new people. Life should be lived to the fullest with no regrets. If my day ends with laughter, dancing with friends, and raising a glass to toast...for any reason...it was a good day".

On last year's Leiomyosarcoma Day, Jacqui posted the following message. "Don't wait. Don't wait to tell your family and friends you love them as often as possible, and don't wait to pursue your dreams. Stop taking life for granted".

We will miss her and her ever-smiling face. She left an indelible mark on our lives, and we need to honor that with strength and with love. We all need to be a little more like Jacqui. To a life well spent – We love you, Jacqui!

Jacqui - Marley Moose

Most of you know—Jacqui and I go way back. We met when we were just 9 years old, two kids in 6th grade who had no idea we’d be sharing a lifetime. From the start, she was the joyful one—always smiling, always light. I was the moody one, the overthinker. We were the Ying and the Yang. And somewhere early on, when I got upset, Jacqui did what Jacqui always did best—she found a way to make me laugh. She created a character. A precious, ridiculous, adorable, one-of-a-kind moose named Marley. Whenever I was down, she’d disappear behind a corner—there was always a corner—and suddenly two fingers would pop up over the edge like antlers. Then a leg would stick out. Then came the dance—rocking side to side, full of charm and absurdity—as she chanted: “Marley Moose, Marley Moose—ha ha, that’s me!” And just like that, my frown would crack, my mood would lift, and Marley would work her magic. It became our thing. An act of pure love, laughter, and silliness that carried us through childhood, adulthood, and all the in-betweens. I recently found a video of Marley. It stopped me in my tracks. To see her again—goofing, dancing, saving me like she always did—was both joy and ache all at once. I’ll carry Marley with me forever. And oh, what I wouldn’t give to see her peek around that corner one more time. It starts at the 25 second mark on the video. I miss my friend. https://1drv.ms/v/c/857c378087502aef/Ee8qUIeAN3wggIXj0QAAAAABrVffOMCIzUgGB-cP69TG9w
