Life story

James Robert Gould was a son, brother, nephew and friend to many.

With many talents and gifts, he excelled in both school and in his music.

While he left this world far too soon, he has left an indelible mark on those who he knew.

We take solace in knowing that he is living now in glory at the right hand of our lord and savior, Jesus Christ. It is with this knowledge that the pain of his not being here, while never gone, is somewhat comforted.

We love you James and miss you dearly.

A Piece of My Heart

James tried to arrive in this world early. Doctors prevented it. So instead his delivery was weeks past the due date. As a baby he smiled with his warm dark eyes,; a shy smile. James loved routine and order. . . a trait that helped his disciplined and hard working nature. He showed musical interests at a young age, listening and playing all kinds of instruments throughout his life. James was an amazing student, talented actor and a kind human being. So much for a parent to be proud of.❤️ James’ faith was big. He accepted Jesus as Lord and Savior at a young age and grew his faith in word and deed. Each year he had a staring role in church plays. . . learning lines and lines of dialogue with ease. He had numerous roles in Trinity Rep’s Christmas Carol. An opportunity of a lifetime. As a senior James had major jaw surgery which resulted in his jaw being wired shut until days before he gave his valedictorian speech. In the Fall of 2003, he headed to Adelphi University in New York where he became a concert master, first chair violin student as a freshman. Despite having a four year fully paid scholarship James wanted to study at the prestigious Boston Conservatory. Hours and hours of practice, an extraordinary audition resulted in the achievement of his dream. The time at the Boston Conservatory was academically challenging, musically demanding but James loved it all. However, a few short weeks into the semester James became ill and was transported to the hospital . James died a few hours after his dad and I arrived at the hospital. While no one could anticipate the outcome we were there, by his side, He passed from this life as he tried to enter. . . too early. Only this time all the doctors and prayers were not to prevent it from being so. Today, twenty years later, the pain of loss is as real as the night we said goodbye. We will forever grieve his loss until the Lord calls each of us home. Forever loved ❤️

Forever remembered

I hold such wonderful memories of my nephew James. You couldn’t help but be inspired by the fine young man he became. One of his many talents was playing the violin. I truly was mesmerized by his performances. Now when I see or hear someone playing the violin, I silently say to myself, James was WAY better. He was gifted beyond measure. You are forever loved and remembered! ❤️ Auntie Ellie

Always in our hearts

For anyone who comes across this memorial to James, know that he was great. In all things he had a power to be one with everything he did. He was an excellent student, valedictorian of his class. He excelled in all things music, earning entry into the Boston Conservatory to study violin. He was a born again Christian, right now seated at the feet of our lord and savior. He was also my brother. Someone even being younger than me, I looked up to in many ways. So please leave your messages so those who visit can share their stories of James and we can continue to remember him in this special way.
