KasiJo Hiatt was born in Orem, Utah. On the 18th of April, 1984, to Ruth Price and Gene Hiatt. She loved her youth, and lived her youth, fearlessly. She lived with her eyes and heart wide open. From summer days at the pool with her brothers and MamaRuth, to those beautiful summer nights she loved, with homemade ice cream and all the neighborhood kids around.
She cherished and loved those simple times. She learned a love for fishing, as her mama ‘sang to the fishies’ and learned a love for the outdoors, camping with her daddy.
From Sunday drives to Grandpa and Grandmas house, and the love she always felt there, to cross country trips to the Tar Heel State, with her arms wide open to that Carolina rain.
Through it all she embraced life, and she loved all those around her, fearlessly, fiercely. Those who were lucky enough to know Kasi, know the depth of that love. And as she grew, her heart grew bigger too.
She LOVED her music. Whether it was dancing in the rain at a concert or singing the chorus as loud as she possibly could, or a text saying, “listen to this, and turn it all the way up.” She loved music because it touched the depths of her heart, and it spoke a language to her strong and untethered soul…
Because she felt, so deeply.
Because she loved, so fiercely.
KasiJo loved sports. In softball, whether she was crowding the plate, or pitching a fastball, her eyes were wide open, she was present. She loved watching the Dodgers play, and Dodger blue was the only time she wasn’t wearing her Carolina Blue. She loved, she absolutely LOVED, watching her sons at the ballfield. Seeing them play, encouraging them, cheering so loud for them, walking…with them.
Oh, and her love, for her Carolina Tar Heels… She loved them through and through. She’d cheer them on for the world to hear, pacing back and forth as the game clock ticked, and in the rare chance that her Heels were behind, she’d race to her room to find a lucky shirt to change into.
She loved, fiercely.
Her love for the outdoors stayed with her throughout her life. Camping, fishing, BE-ing together. It wouldn’t matter if there were fifty people there, she’d make sure every single one of them had what they needed, and a full belly.
Because she loved, fiercely.
Just this past week she prepared and planned to register for school to become a nurse. She always wanted to help other people, because that’s who she was, and that’s who she’s always been. KasiJo’s hugs, KasiJo’s smile, and KasiJo’s laugh… May we all take those with us, keep them close to our hearts, and spread them to others every chance we get. She’d want us all to, because that’s who she is.
Because she loved, fiercely.
Her GREATEST love in life, her GREATEST joy in life… is, and will always be, her five precious children. William, Aiden, David, Aspyn, and Canyon. Their mother’s heart, her whole soul, wrapped around them and intertwined with every fiber of her. There are no words that can fully express her love, her fight, and her strength. Anyone reading this, it’s our time, and will be our time for the rest of our days, to carry her love to each of her children.
No matter what was ahead, no matter the weight that her strong and unconquerable soul felt, she kept going, her unconquerable soul kept fighting.
Because she loved, fiercely.
Because she lived, bravely.
KasiJo is survived by her five children, William, Aiden, David, Aspyn, and Canyon. By her mother, Ruth Price. By her father and stepmother, Gene and Jane Hiatt. By her siblings, Jeremy (Andrea), Ryan (Taryn), Terry (Janeal), Carly (Junior), Paxman (Andrea), Glade, Brin (Jared) and Gene (Emma).
